The border gates in Lang Son province facilitate the smooth flow of goods through customs.

Mr. Le Van Thang, Head of the Management Board of Dong Dang-Lang Son Border Economic Zone, said that since the beginning of 2023, the Management Board has chaired and coordinated with relevant agencies and units to implement comprehensive solutions to create the most favorable conditions for import and export activities through border gates in the province.

At the same time, we will regularly and proactively exchange information and hold discussions with local authorities in Guangxi, China, to agree on measures to facilitate customs clearance, promptly resolve difficulties and obstacles arising in import and export activities at border gates, and restore operations at sub-border gates that were temporarily suspended due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic…

Recently, with Vietnamese fruits like durian and dragon fruit in season, the number of vehicles transporting goods to border gates in Lang Son province has increased dramatically.

However, cargo vehicles are remotely routed to ensure that the border crossing remains clear, maintaining a smooth flow of import and export goods with very high efficiency (surpassing the period before the Covid-19 pandemic).

Currently, 6 out of 12 border gates in Lang Son province are operating normally; the average customs clearance efficiency is approximately 1,100 - 1,200 vehicles/day, of which about 400-450 vehicles/day are for export (over 80% of exports are fresh fruits from Vietnam), and about 700-750 vehicles/day are for import.

According to preliminary data from the General Department of Customs, as of the end of August 2023, the country's fruit and vegetable exports reached US$3.55 billion, an increase of 61.8% compared to the same period last year, surpassing the US$3.36 billion figure for the whole of 2022.

Fruits and vegetables also recorded the highest growth rate in the agricultural sector during the first eight months of 2023.

Regarding export markets, China remains the leading market with export turnover of 2.26 billion USD, accounting for 63.6% of the total export turnover of our country's fruit and vegetable industry in the first eight months of 2023.

Compared to the same period last year, fruit and vegetable exports to this market in the first eight months of this year increased sharply by 133.6% and by 47.7% compared to the total export value for the whole year of 2022 (US$1.53 billion).

With a figure of $2.26 billion, fruit and vegetable exports to the Chinese market also set a record compared to the same period in previous years.
