Recently, Vietnamese fruits such as durian and dragon fruit have entered harvest season, and the number of vehicles carrying goods to border gates in Lang Son province has increased dramatically.
However, the trucks are routed remotely to ensure that the border gate is always clear, the flow of import and export goods is maintained smoothly with very high efficiency (surpassing the time before the Covid-19 outbreak).
Currently, 6/12 border gates in Lang Son province are operating normally; the average clearance efficiency is about 1,100 - 1,200 vehicles/day, of which about 400-450 vehicles/day are exported (over 80% of exported goods are fresh fruits from Vietnam), and about 700-750 vehicles/day are imported.
According to preliminary data from the General Department of Customs, by the end of August 2023, the country's fruit and vegetable exports reached 3.55 billion USD, an increase of 61.8% over the same period last year, surpassing the 3.36 billion USD figure for the whole year of 2022.
Vegetables and fruits are also the commodity group that recorded the highest growth rate in the agricultural sector in the first 8 months of 2023.
Regarding export markets, China is still the leading market with an export turnover of 2.26 billion USD, accounting for 63.6% of the total export turnover of our country's fruit and vegetable industry in the first 8 months of 2023.
Compared to the same period last year, fruit and vegetable exports to this market in the first 8 months of this year increased sharply by 133.6% and increased by 47.7% compared to the total turnover for the whole year of 2022 (1.53 billion USD).
With the figure of 2.26 billion USD, fruit and vegetable exports to the Chinese market also set a record compared to the same period in previous years.
