It is known that during the process of dredging and clearing the flow of the Son River in Phong Nha commune, Quang Tri province, the construction unit of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, Quang Tri province discovered a bomb located about 200m from the entrance of Phong Nha cave.
The incident was promptly reported to the Quang Tri Provincial Military Command. After receiving the information, the Quang Tri Provincial Military Command requested the PeaceTrees VietNam Quang Binh Project to assist in handling the incident. The MTT1 multi-task team of the PeaceTrees VietNam Quang Binh Project coordinated with relevant units to arrive at the scene in time to approach and find a way to safely handle the bomb. Through inspection, the team determined that this was an MK82 bomb, weighing 227kg. After assessing the safety conditions, the team moved the bomb to the explosives warehouse for handling.
Phong Nha - Ke Bang Tourism Center under the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park Management Board said that currently, activities at the Phong Nha and Tien Son cave tourist routes in the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park area have been restored to normal and ensure absolute safety for tourists.
