Life in a peaceful place
More than a month has passed since the 10 houses in the "Quang Trung Campaign" in Mo Roi village (hamlet 6, Tra Tap commune) were handed over, and a new way of life is gradually flourishing in the resettlement area.
Using the remaining wooden planks from their old house that collapsed during last year's floods, the villagers of Tak Ri helped Ho Van Nam's family move to a new home. Like many other Ca Dong families, Mr. Nam rebuilt his traditional wooden house right behind the house donated by the government. There, the hearth was rekindled, beginning a new journey of settling down.
Mr. Nam shared that although he didn't want to leave his old village, his family was forced to relocate for safety reasons. The new place, while not as comfortable as the old one, is filled with neighborly love and solidarity. Families in similar circumstances, having lost their homes after the storms, have readily supported each other in life, from rebuilding wooden houses to cultivating fields.

On the vacant land next to his house, Mr. Bui Van Anh uses styrofoam containers to improve the soil for growing vegetables. Mr. Ho Van Hien dedicates a portion of his traditional wooden house to a general store, selling necessities and essential items to the villagers. The remaining households team up to go to the foot of the mountain to gather reeds to sell. For them, the new house is a motivation to work diligently and gradually improve their lives.
“After losing our homes, the local authorities promptly searched for safer resettlement locations. Police officers, militia members, and youth union members braved the rain and sun to rebuild new homes for the people. From being left penniless after the floods, within just a few months, the people were able to settle down again. However, that doesn't mean we rely solely on the support of the Party and the State. I am always conscious of the need to take good care of our homes, actively engage in production, ensure my children receive a proper education, and readily participate in local movements when called upon,” shared Mr. Ho Van Hien.
According to Mr. Le Trung Thuc, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tra Tap commune, continuing the spirit of the "Quang Trung Campaign," in the days leading up to Tet, the locality continues to urge construction units to speed up the completion of the remaining items of the Mo Roi resettlement village, such as roads and embankments. Landslides on the transportation routes after the recent floods have also been promptly repaired to ensure smooth and safe travel for people during Tet.
Efforts to prepare for Tet
In the mountainous commune of Tra Tap, just before the Lunar New Year, hundreds of households in the hamlets of Tu Nuong, Tak Nhing, Kiet Xoan, and the C72 residential area were officially connected to the national power grid. This is a significant effort by the local government and the power sector, aiming to ignite new motivation for the people in the new year.
Mr. Ho Van Dai, a resident of area C72, village 4, Tra Tap commune, shared: “For years, witnessing neighboring villages brightly lit with electricity, and people flocking to buy televisions and refrigerators, we could only yearn for the same. Every night, the whole family had to huddle around the fire, and the children didn't have enough light to study or read.”

As soon as electricity reached his home, Mr. Dai brought back his first electric rice cooker. The whole family eagerly watched him demonstrate how to cook. All they had to do was plug it in, press a button, and in about ten minutes, they had rice to eat – no more struggling to light a fire. Although the rice no longer had the familiar smoky flavor of the kitchen stove, it offered superior speed and convenience, especially on busy days returning from the fields.
Ms. Ho Thi Hue, Head of Hamlet 4, said: Tak Nhing and residential area C72 are the last two residential areas in the hamlet to be illuminated by the national power grid. With electricity, the people have resolved to work hard in production so that next year they can have a more prosperous life, afford to buy more electrical appliances, and gradually access a new, civilized way of life.
From housing policies, investment and development, and livelihood support, to thoughtful gifts and timely encouragement, all demonstrate the profound concern of the Party and the State for the people in the highlands. Especially during the Lunar New Year, these care activities are implemented even more actively and widely.

With the motto "joyful, safe, and economical," starting from mid-December, the mountainous commune of Tra Lien has been decorating and conducting visual propaganda; repairing the memorial monument for heroic martyrs, the welcome gate, etc., creating a joyful and enthusiastic Tet atmosphere. At the same time, the locality has also focused on disseminating information and mobilizing people to clean their homes, village cultural centers, village roads, and alleys; and displaying the national flag at home during the celebration of the Party and welcoming the Spring.
Mr. Nguyen Hong Vuong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tra Lien commune, said: Policies to care for people with meritorious services, policy beneficiary families, poor households, and households with difficult circumstances during Tet (Lunar New Year) have been implemented promptly. The locality has also proactively visited and encouraged village elders and influential people in the community. Notably, the commune has mobilized hundreds of Tet gifts from affiliated units, businesses, etc., to give to the people, ensuring that no one lacks anything during Tet.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Nhi, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tra Van commune: To create a vibrant atmosphere of competition, the locality continuously organizes cultural, artistic, and sports activities to celebrate the Party and welcome the spring. Simultaneously, the commune also launched a labor and production movement, leading up to the Tra Van Cultural Colors Festival taking place right after Tet, with many activities such as competitions for the most beautiful cinnamon garden, woven products, livestock farming, etc. Through these activities, the locality hopes to create a new impetus for socio -economic development in 2026.
