Projects for the people
Hamlet 2 in Tra Leng commune is home to over 380 Ca Dong ethnic minority households. Previously, the road from the commune center to the hamlet lacked streetlights, making travel difficult and posing a potential traffic safety hazard for residents.
In response to this situation, during the launch ceremony of Youth Month 2026, the Tra Leng Commune Youth Union, in coordination with the Hiep Duc Commune Youth Union, installed a solar power system in Hamlet 2, spanning nearly 1km, with a total cost of nearly 50 million VND. The completed project facilitates convenient and safe travel for residents at night.
Mr. Bui Van Vang (village 2) shared: “Since the electricity was installed, it has been easier for people to get around at night, and security and order are better ensured. We thank the young people for bringing light to our village!”
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy, Secretary of the Tra Leng Commune Youth Union, during Youth Month, the commune's Youth Union installed a solar-powered lighting system, donated 60 gift packages and 200 scarves to students, supported disadvantaged youth with two livelihood gardens, and visited and presented gifts to influential people in the community. Through these concrete actions, the youth of Tra Leng hope to contribute to improving the lives of the people and fostering a sense of responsibility towards the community.

At the sports complex of the Nong Son 1 village cultural center in Dien Ban Tay ward, there was previously a lack of nighttime lighting, limiting cultural and sports activities. During Youth Month, the commune's Youth Union mobilized its members to install a solar-powered lighting system; clean up and renovate the football field to provide residents with more space for exercise.
Meanwhile, alleyway 2 on Cao Thang Street, connecting to Ly Tu Trong Street (Hai Chau Ward), is 600 meters long with many narrow sections and blind curves, posing a traffic safety risk. The ward's team has installed convex mirrors and solar-powered lights here, helping road users to observe more easily and ensuring safety.
According to Mr. Nguyen Cong Anh, Deputy Secretary of the Hai Chau Ward Youth Union, installing convex mirrors is a practical solution that helps expand the field of view at blind spots, improving traffic safety. In the future, the Ward Youth Union will continue to survey and implement more similar projects and combine them with mural painting to improve urban aesthetics and create a safe living space for residents.

A loving home
During Youth Month, the youth of Da Nang also left their mark with housing repair projects, contributing to providing stable homes for disadvantaged people.
For many years, former Youth Volunteer Corps member Hoang Thi Y Loi (Thanh Khe ward) lived alone in a dilapidated single-story house. Faced with this situation, the Thanh Khe Ward Youth Union mobilized its members to repair her house. The young people replaced the corrugated iron roof, repaired the electrical system, repainted the walls, and renovated the bathroom. The total cost of the project was over 20 million VND, mostly funded by the Youth Union members' efforts.
Ms. Loi shared: "In my old age, I don't have the means to repair my house. Thanks to these young people, I now have a safer place to live and feel more secure when storms come."
Similarly, in Hoa Tien commune, Battalion 179 (Regiment 282, Division 375) recently coordinated with the commune's Youth Union to repair the house of Mrs. Tran Thi Thoi (68 years old, Phu Son village). Youth Union members and officers and soldiers worked together to paint walls, repair doors, renovate the electrical system, clean the yard, and beautify the living space. The work was carried out quickly but with guaranteed quality. After completion, the house is not only clean and beautiful but also safer during the rainy season. For Mrs. Thoi, this is a significant change in her life, giving her more peace of mind in her old age and frail health.

According to the plan, all youth union branches in the city implemented at least one project or activity during Youth Month. Volunteer activities attracted more than 40,000 youth union members and young people. Notably, the City Youth Union directly implemented 10 "Solar Power Line" projects in mountainous and border communes, with a total value of 400 million VND.
According to Mr. Nguyen Ba Duan, Deputy Secretary of the City Youth Union and President of the City Youth Federation, the 2026 Youth Month is an opportunity for young people to clearly demonstrate their role and responsibility to the community through specific and practical projects and activities. Each project not only has practical value but also reflects the pioneering spirit, sharing, and aspiration to contribute of Youth Union members and young people. In the coming time, the City Youth Union will continue to promote and expand effective models, aiming for more sustainable projects, contributing to building an increasingly developed city.
