Da Nang: Discover the stage and grandstands with thousands of seats prepared for DIFF 2026
The organizers of DIFF 2026 announced that the stage and grandstands for the festival are over 90% complete, entering the final stages of preparation for this year's fireworks display. With the theme "Danang - united horizons," the DIFF 2026 stage is considered one of the largest and most technologically advanced performance stages ever seen at the festival. A special highlight is the first-ever operation of a massive lifting dome system along with a multi-layered combination of lighting, LEDs, and lasers. According to our reporter's observations, the construction of the grandstand is being carried out urgently.
The main structure of the grandstand is about 90% complete, and the entire installation and safety checks are expected to be finished in the coming days. The main stage area has also had its basic elements completed, and the team is now focusing on installing lighting, sound, LED screens, and other supporting technical systems. According to the organizers, the new technology promises to create spectacular grand displays, enhancing the visual experience for viewers watching the fireworks along the Han River. This year's stage design is based on the concept of a "crossroads of unity," inspired by the imagined moment when the Earth slows down so that the horizons draw closer together. The stage space is designed as a place where culture, time, and emotion intersect. The design language is expressed through three levels of space with curves that mimic connecting bridges. The illuminated dome above expands as a symbol of aspiration, while the water below reflects soft streaks of light, creating visual depth and highlighting the connection between tradition and modernity. The stage, with a total width of approximately 100m, was expanded to accommodate the VIP seating area stretching on both sides. With an area of nearly 1,200m2 and a main performance area of 50m, the stage is large enough to accommodate large-scale performances, while also creating a connection between the artistic performances and the fireworks display in the sky.
According to the organizers, the biggest breakthrough of DIFF 2026 lies in its stage mechanical system, which has never appeared in previous festivals. Particularly noteworthy is the central lifting arch, over 40 meters wide and more than 10 meters high, considered the "backbone" of the entire stage.
In addition, there are five mechanical arch systems capable of operating independently or synchronously, continuously transforming the performance space according to each act. The central arches can complete their raising and lowering cycles in less than 70 seconds, allowing for flexible stage transitions in real time. The DIFF viewing area is designed to meet strict standards, with safety checks conducted at every stage to ensure the utmost safety for visitors. Sound and lighting are also carefully considered at each location so that spectators can fully experience the sound during the fireworks display. The grandstand with thousands of seats for DIFF 2026 is undergoing its final stages of completion. The opening night of DIFF 2026, themed "Nature," will take place on the evening of May 30th, beginning with a competition between the host team Da Nang (Vietnam) and the team from China.
