This is not only a shining example of the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers, ready to sacrifice for the people, but also clearly reflects the leadership, guidance, and timely response of the Gia Lai Provincial Military Command.

Armed forces in Gia Lai province used BTR-152 armored tanks to rescue civilians during the night of November 6th.

Lieutenant Nguyen Duy Tan, a BTR-152 armored vehicle driver from Platoon 2, Mechanized Reconnaissance Company 1, Staff Department, Gia Lai Provincial Military Command - the driver who directly rescued people in Quy Nhon Nam ward (Gia Lai province) - recalled that at around 7 PM, after the storm had hit and swept through for some time, the crew received orders to go rescue people.

Immediately, the crew, under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Pham Ngoc Canh, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Gia Lai Provincial Military Command, mobilized to the scene. At that time, the roofs of two houses had been blown off by the storm, and there were about 8 people inside, including the elderly and young children, who were in a state of panic.

“When the officers and soldiers of the Provincial Military Command and the militia coordinated to bring people to safe shelters, the people finally stopped worrying. Many said, ‘With the soldiers here, we are saved,’” recalled Lieutenant Nguyen Duy Tan.

Captain Vo Le Quoc, commander of the BTR-152 armored vehicle, shared: "The crew carried out the mission in the eye of the storm, with trees and corrugated iron roofs falling everywhere, it was very dangerous, but no one was afraid, because the lives of the people were at stake. We went towards the people and our will and strength were multiplied many times over."

According to Lieutenant Colonel Pham Ngoc Canh, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Gia Lai Provincial Military Command, Typhoon No. 13, with its terrifying wind speeds, threatened the collapse of many sturdy houses, and numerous families called for help when the storm hit. Six vehicle crews from the 1st Mechanized Reconnaissance Company were deployed by the Provincial Military Command at three locations: the Provincial Military Command Headquarters; the Area 1 Defense Command - Hoai Nhon Nam; and the Area 6 Defense Command - An Nhon Dong, to assist people along the coastal line in case of emergency. When the storm hit, all six crews mobilized to carry out their duties and rescued nearly 200 people.

Lieutenant Nguyen Duy Tan, a military officer, shared his story of rescuing civilians with reporters.

Colonel Nguyen The Vinh, Standing Committee member of the Provincial Party Committee and Commander of the Gia Lai Provincial Military Command, stated that the prevention and control of Typhoon No. 13 was directed comprehensively, decisively, scientifically , and effectively by the Government, the 5th Military Region Command, the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee, and the Gia Lai Provincial Military Command, resulting in minimal damage, especially to the lives of the people.

The Provincial Military Command alone mobilized 7,797 officers and soldiers with 92 vehicles of various types (cars, armored vehicles, boats) and 5 UAVs to be on standby in key areas with high risks, close to the people, to immediately handle any situations.

"In addition to the BTR-152 armored vehicle crews rescuing nearly 200 people during the storm on the night of November 6th, by noon on November 7th, floods from the upper reaches of the Ba River poured in with a large volume, causing deep flooding in many areas of riverside communes and wards in Ayun Pa town and the former Ia Pa district (Gia Lai province). The Provincial Military Command directed the Command of Defense Zone 5 - Ayun Pa to deploy 2 canoes to rescue 9 trapped victims, including 2 elderly people on the roof and 7 others who were isolated."

From November 6th to noon on November 7th, the Command of Defense Zone 5 - Ayun Pa coordinated the relocation of 1,264 households with 5,095 people from dangerous areas and rescued 19 people in critical condition. "The actions of the officers and soldiers of the provincial armed forces in rescuing people during the storm have spread and beautifully highlighted the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the new era," Colonel Nguyen The Vinh shared.
