People often say: History can only be read in books, in pages that have turned yellow over the years, or in black and white films that shake each frame. But there are moments when history refuses to stand still on the page.

History comes alive, blazing in the wind, the sunlight, the heartbeats of thousands of people. It returns, intact and sacred, for everyone to touch with their eyes, listen with their ears, and tremble with their hearts.

People came to experience

People came to experience "Returning to the sacred moment" on the morning of August 19 at the National Radio Center, 58 Quan Su.

This time, the door to that history is opened by virtual reality technology. With just one breath, one step through the virtual reality (VR) gate, you will find yourself no longer in 2025, but "traveling through time" to the fall of 1945 - the moment President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

It was not just a trip back in time. It was an emotional pilgrimage, where the smoldering flame of patriotism in each person's heart suddenly flared up fiercely.

Ba Dinh - that autumn

On the afternoon of September 2, 1945, the autumn sky in Hanoi was blue, the golden sunlight spread over the large square. Tens of thousands of people jostled shoulder to shoulder, from all over the roads, from the plains to the mountains, from the countryside to the city, pouring into Ba Dinh. They stood tightly packed, shoulder to shoulder, no one told anyone but all turned their eyes to the podium.

There were old men with white hair, trembling, leaning on their canes, their eyes blurred with tears. There were country mothers, their faces tanned by the sun, tightly holding their children's hands. There were babies being held on their fathers' shoulders, their eyes wide open, looking at the large flag fluttering. There were young men in plain clothes, sweat dripping down their foreheads, but their eyes were shining with faith.

The whole nation, from old to young, from farmers, workers, intellectuals, all gathered here, carrying a single aspiration: To live in freedom.

High above, the red flag with a yellow star fluttered proudly. The brilliant colors of the flag seemed to want to embrace the entire autumn sky. The sounds of footsteps, people calling to each other, and the bustling cheers gradually died down. A strange silence spread, covering the entire square. No one said anything, but everyone held their breath.

And then, from the podium, Uncle Ho’s voice rose. Deep, clear, echoing throughout the space: “Dear compatriots of the whole country…”.

The sound pierced straight through every heart. The whole square exploded with emotion. People didn't dare move, afraid of missing a word, a sound.

When Uncle Ho read: “All men are created equal…”, many eyes were filled with tears. Some people silently wiped their tears away. Some people tightly clasped the hands of those around them. Many young people raised their heads high, their lips pressed tightly together, as if they were making a solemn oath.

At that moment, the world seemed to stop spinning. A nation, after many years of slavery, stood up for the first time, proclaiming itself before the world : independent and free Vietnam.

The old lady was moved when Uncle Ho's voice rang out.

Then the applause was thunderous. The cry of “Long live the independence of Vietnam!” rose like the waves of the sea, rolling and rushing. People hugged each other, crying and laughing through their tears. From that moment on, history turned a new page, and the sacred flame of patriotism burned in the hearts of every citizen.

Crossing time with patriotism

Eighty years have passed. The witnesses of that day, some are still alive, some are gone. Today's generation has no chance to witness the historic moment with their own eyes. But thanks to virtual reality technology, that memory has been vividly recreated.

In the small room, you put on your VR glasses. A second later, light engulfs you. Before your eyes is the blue sky, the red flag, and Ba Dinh Square packed with people. You hear the wind, the shouts, and then Uncle Ho’s voice, so close it makes your heart clench.

You are no longer a spectator. You are part of that sea of people. When Uncle Ho’s voice resounds: “Dear compatriots across the country…”, your heart beats faster, your eyes blur. When the cry of “Long live independent Vietnam!” rises, you join in, waving your arms and shouting along, as if you were living the birth day of your Fatherland.

“Returning to the sacred moment” - an event organized by Voice of Vietnam and VTC News Electronic Newspaper is not only an application of new technology, but also a way to awaken historical memories and arouse patriotism.

This is not just a reenactment. This is an attempt to bring history alive with all your senses. You see it, you hear it, you touch it, you vibrate it.

The event is expected to welcome about 30,000 people to experience over 2 days.

When you take off the VR glasses, the current scenery returns, returning to today's streets. But in your heart, the sacred feeling still echoes. You were standing in the middle of Ba Dinh that year, immersed in the moment of the nation's birth.

Just one experience is to carry the flame for life. That flame will remind us that: Patriotism is not a slogan. Patriotism is the pride that flows in the blood, the tears that fall when hearing the Declaration of Independence, the trembling heart when seeing the red flag with yellow star flying.

Behind those few minutes of VR are months of elaborate preparation.

Every ray of sunlight, every face, every detail of the costume… is recreated closely to historical documents. Experts have to adjust the lighting, sound, and depth of field so that viewers are not overwhelmed. Every piece of background music, every cheer, every drum beat, is meticulously processed to bring the most realistic feeling.

Experience schedule
