BPO - At 2:30 AM on May 20th, the Truong Sa Town Medical Center, Truong Sa District, Khanh Hoa Province, received and promptly provided emergency treatment to patient Nguyen Dinh Diem, who was transferred from the Da Tay A Island Clinic.

Patient Nguyen Dinh Diem (26 years old, a crew member of fishing vessel BTh 97986TS, captained by Do Van Tham, from Binh Thuan province) suffered decompression sickness due to deep diving while fishing in the area north of Da Tay Island, 4 nautical miles away.

According to the crew of the BTh 97986TS vessel, the patient was diving at a depth of about 20m. About 10 minutes after surfacing, Mr. Diem began to experience chest and abdominal pain, shortness of breath, etc. The patient was immediately taken to the infirmary on Da Tay A Island for emergency treatment. Following a quick professional consultation with underwater medicine specialists from the Naval Medical Institute, the patient was given high-flow oxygen, intravenous fluids, antiplatelet therapy, etc., and was transferred to the Truong Sa Town Medical Center for treatment and monitoring.
