On November 18th, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training organized a ceremony to celebrate the 41st anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20, 1982 - November 20, 2024), honoring outstanding teachers and presenting the Vo Truong Toan Award 2024.

Leaders of Ho Chi Minh City and the Department of Education and Training presented certificates of merit and awards to outstanding teachers.

This year, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training honored 14 outstanding teachers and awarded the Vo Truong Toan Prize 2024 to 50 teachers who have made significant contributions to the development of the education sector.

In addition, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City awarded the City's Emulation Flag to 14 collectives with outstanding achievements in the 2023-2024 school year, leading the group of Education and Training Departments and affiliated units, and making a positive contribution to the city's emulation movement.

At the ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, shared: "In education, we not only provide our students with scientific knowledge and cultivate their abilities, but we also have the responsibility to help them develop their morals and form noble qualities. Teachers care for, nurture, and love their students with all their hearts and with tolerance and generosity; awaken their potential, inspire and develop their inner strength; guide them to learn independently, conduct research, and explore, so that students develop their thinking and intellect, and continuously improve their character. And it is in the work of educating students that we are improving ourselves every day; cultivating morality, upholding the ethics of the teaching profession; and maintaining exemplary attitudes and behaviors to serve as role models for our students."

The head of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training added: "In reality, there are times when parents are upset with teachers, society is dissatisfied with education, and the honor of teachers is sometimes damaged. Along with the nobility and glory of the profession come many hardships, heavy responsibilities, challenges, and pressures. We are proud of the teachers who are steadfast and dedicated to upholding the fine traditions of the teaching profession; teachers who silently overcome difficulties, diligently work, study, train, and contribute to the education of the school, the education sector, and the country. The quality of education is not only reflected in the results of student competitions, high school graduation exams, and annual training efficiency, but also in the joy and love of going to school of the students. Although each level of education has its own difficulties and hardships, teachers have made continuous efforts and innovations. Many teachers have been shining examples of moral character and competence." "Professionalism and responsibility towards the profession; continuous innovation and creativity, achieving outstanding results in teaching and patriotic emulation movements."

Attending the 41st anniversary celebration of Vietnamese Teachers' Day and the awarding of the Vo Truong Toan Prize, Ms. Nguyen Thi Le, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairwoman of the People's Council of Ho Chi Minh City, stated: "Among the thousands of teachers who have worked and are working in Ho Chi Minh City, each has contributed in their own way to the cause of education and training. These teachers have overcome difficulties and risen above challenges, serving as shining examples of morality, dedication, and sacrifice for their profession."

Many teachers have dedicated their youth, enduring patiently alongside students with disabilities. In addition, there are security guards, medical staff, and other indirect personnel in educational institutions and education and training departments who are working day and night to fulfill their roles and responsibilities for the common good of education and for the future of the next generation.

The Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee emphasized that the city's leaders will continue to pay close attention to and provide all necessary support for education. In particular, recognizing and commending the contributions of teachers and education administrators is even more essential, creating motivation for them to continue contributing to the training and development of high-quality human resources for the locality and the country.
