Arriving early at the exam site of Hanoi National University of Education, Nguyen Anh Phuong ( Ha Giang City) took the opportunity to review her lessons before entering the exam room. This year, Phuong chose to take 3 subjects: Math, Chemistry, Biology. The female student set a goal to register for the Biology Pedagogy major. Last year, this major had a fairly high standard score - 26.75, making the female student somewhat nervous and more worried about competing for a place in university with other students.

"Pedagogy is a potential field of study for me to choose to study and develop. I also want to study pedagogy so that later I can return to my hometown Ha Giang to teach and help poor students," Phuong added.

Candidates are called into the exam room to do the exam procedures.

According to information from Hanoi National University of Education, this year the number of candidates taking the exam increased by 6,000 compared to last year, of which nearly 13,200 were in Math. Following Math in terms of the number of candidates was Literature - more than 11,900. These are two compulsory subjects in the general education program, and are also the main subjects of university entrance exam combinations.

Biology is still the subject chosen by the fewest candidates, but there are 465 more than last year, up to 845.

Hoang Yen Nhi (Hoa An, Cao Bang) and her sister arrived in Hanoi last night and rented a hotel near the school to rest. This is the only private exam Nhi will participate in because she wants to follow the family tradition of becoming a teacher.

"Before taking the Hanoi National University of Education's aptitude test, I tried many sample questions and reviewed them. Unlike the graduation exam, the SPT exam has many application questions at a higher level, which requires candidates to really understand the nature and apply calculation formulas to achieve the expected high score," the female student said, adding that she will take the exam in 3 subjects: Math, Chemistry, and Biology.

Yen Nhi's goal for this exam is to score about 26-28 points, to register for admission to the Chemistry Pedagogy or Biology Pedagogy majors. In addition to the Pedagogy school's own exam, the female student also takes the high school graduation exam to get the admission results, increasing her chances of entering the Pedagogy major.

The supervisor announced the exam regulations.

A representative of Hanoi National University of Education said that the number of candidates this year has increased sharply, many of whom are far from the center of Hanoi such as: Da Nang, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Cao Bang, Dien Bien, Lai Chau... therefore, the school arranged 20 exam locations in Hanoi, Nghe An, Binh Dinh, Da Nang, Tay Nguyen, Binh Duong, Thanh Hoa... to ensure that candidates do not have to travel too far like in previous years.

The exams will be held over two days, May 17-18, instead of just one day like previous years.

The SPT exam content closely follows the 2018 general education program and teaching, testing and assessment orientation of the Ministry of Education and Training.

The test combines multiple choice and essay questions with the score ratio depending on the structure of the test; assessing the level of understanding of core knowledge and the ability to argue, analyze, evaluate, solve problems and be creative. Multiple choice questions include choosing one of 4 options, choosing True/False, short answers, similar to the format of the 2025 high school graduation exam.

Hanoi National University of Education will announce the SPT test scores before June 15. Ms. Hang said the results will be sent to candidates and schools that recognize and use the results of this test.

Currently, 25 schools have said they use SPT scores for admission. In addition to the Pedagogical schools across the country, there are also the Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology, Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy, and Hanoi Construction.
