On the morning of October 6, 399 students of Lien Minh Primary School (Duc Minh Commune, Ha Tinh Province) returned to school after a week off due to storm Bualoi (storm No. 10) and prolonged flooding.
During the flag-raising ceremony at the beginning of the week, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dong - Principal of the school - sent words of encouragement to students and their families for the damage and difficulties caused by storms and floods.

The principal also thanked the local authorities, functional forces, and parents for joining hands to help the school overcome the damage and clean up the mud to welcome students back to class soon.
On the occasion of Mid-Autumn Festival, the school teachers prepared a small but meaningful gift for the students. Each student received a moon cake contributed by donors, teachers and parents. Many students were excited and touched when receiving the unexpected gift.

"Recently, many localities have suffered from continuous storms and floods. Many villages have been wiped out, students there have lost all their books, clothes, and even have no school to go to.
Today, we are back to school, that is lucky. Please try to study well to not let down everyone's heart", Mr. Dong told the students during the flag-raising ceremony.
Speaking with Dan Tri reporter, teacher Nguyen Tien Dong said that previously, storm Kajiki (storm number 5) at the end of August had blown off the roof of the school's stage.
While the damage had not yet been repaired, storm Bualoi made landfall again, causing many local buildings and houses to lose their roofs and become damaged. The river water level rose, causing flooding up to 1.5-2m deep. Many trees, desks, chairs, and books were damaged at the school.

Since October 3, teachers have been busy clearing mud and cleaning classrooms to welcome students back (Photo: Tien Dong).
As the floodwaters showed signs of slowly receding, from October 3, all staff, teachers, authorities and parents gathered to clean, wash desks and chairs, and disinfect classrooms to welcome students back.
Along with that, Ms. Pham Thi Kim Tuyen - Team Leader - called on benefactors, parents, and teachers to donate money to buy Mid-Autumn gifts for students.
According to the Department of Education and Training of Ha Tinh province, 16 schools were affected by the recent storm and flood. The department has sent a working group to the communes to inspect, guide the repair and coordinate with the local authorities to restore the facilities in time to welcome students back from the morning of October 6.
