Patient NTD was born in 1974, a worker at Dacinco Company on Thuyen Chai Island, Truong Sa archipelago. The patient was admitted to Truong Sa Island Infirmary in a state of contact, with severe abdominal pain, pale skin and mucous membranes, and intra-abdominal bleeding due to grade 3-4 liver rupture.
Doctors performed diagnostic tests, treated bleeding and promptly rehydrated. “This is one of the special emergency cases. In addition to the members of the Air Rescue Team, Military Hospital 175 has increased the team of doctors from the Abdominal Surgery and Anesthesia and Resuscitation Department to be ready for emergency hemostatic surgery at Truong Sa Island Infirmary. During the transportation, we always closely followed the developments of the two patients. For patients with multiple injuries, the transportation process was monitored very closely. The Emergency Team always prepared for the situation where the patient progressed to massive bleeding and could go into hemorrhagic shock. During the transportation, the patient was given a blood transfusion, fluid replacement, kept warm and closely monitored to ensure safe air transportation,” shared Captain Nguyen Canh Chung, Head of the Air Rescue Team.
After arriving at Military Hospital 175, at the emergency department, the two patients continued to be screened for injuries and then had a hospital consultation to determine the next treatment direction./.
