In recent days, the image of a mother and baby whale hunting in the sea of Vung Boi, An Luong commune, Gia Lai province has attracted much attention.

According to Mr. Dang Van Hai (32 years old) - residing in Vung Boi, who had close contact with the mother and baby whale on the afternoon of June 30, the mother whale was about 10m long, the baby whale was about 6 - 7m.

A few days ago, Mr. Hai also encountered a lone whale about 10 meters long appearing in Nhon Hai sea area.

When whales appear to hunt, seabirds fly around above the water to 'feed' on the whales, creating an extremely unique scene.

It is known that in recent years, whales have continuously appeared in the Gia Lai sea (formerly Binh Dinh) to hunt. The areas where whales are often seen are the seas of De Gi, Vung Boi, Hoai Nhon, Quy Nhon.

According to the Center for Biodiversity Conservation and Endangered Species (CBES), during this season, Gia Lai sea has abundant food sources, less exploitation of aquatic products, and clearer and cleaner water than many other places, so whales often come here to hunt.

The frequent appearance of whales near the shore is a positive sign, showing that the local marine environment is improving.

Similarly, on the morning of July 1, many people recorded the image of a large whale surfacing to hunt for prey in the waters of Mui Dien, Hoa Xuan commune, Dak Lak province.

Mr. Nguyen Kim Phung (32 years old), a fisherman residing in Hoa Xuan commune, Dak Lak province, said that at 6:00 a.m. on July 1, while at sea, he accidentally saw a whale surfacing to hunt for prey in the Mui Dien area.

The whale appeared for about 5 minutes and dived into the water very quickly. This was the first time he had caught this moment.
