Since the evening of October 10, the Thuong River dike in Thuan village, My Thai commune, the field side has collapsed about 50m, with the risk of overflowing and threatening the safety of the dike. The Provincial Military Command has sent 80 officers and soldiers to coordinate with the locality to urgently protect the dike and fix the problem.
Hundreds of local people quickly arrived to handle the incident. Thanks to the ready response force, ready materials, sand, bamboo poles, excavators, etc., when the incident occurred, the authorities and the people quickly resolved the problem. By 11 p.m. the same day, the situation was under control.
Due to the impact of floods, from October 7 until now, many important dike points in My Thai commune have been severely affected, with seepage and seepage through the dike body, posing a serious risk of landslides; including the level 3 dike section in Cong Phen village, Duc Tho dike and the critical dike area of Dam Nung (Thuan village). Implementing the motto "4 on-site", "3 ready", the locality has proactively grasped the situation, regularly checked key areas, promptly detected and fixed incidents in vulnerable areas.
According to Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Bac Ninh province Dang Cong Huong, due to the impact of storm No. 11, Bac Ninh has had heavy rain over many days, causing the water on the banks of Cau River and Thuong River to flood especially large, exceeding the historical flood (the flood peak on Cau River at Phuc Loc Phuong at 9:00 p.m. on October 9 was 9.98 m, exceeding the historical flood in 2024 by 0.58 m; Thuong River at Phu Lang Thuong at 3:00 a.m. on October 9 was 7.6 m, exceeding the historical flood in 1986 by 0.08 m).
The dike system in the area has had many incidents that threaten flood safety; many dike lines have had to be organized to prevent overflow on a large scale; some localities outside the dike have been flooded and isolated.
Currently, floods on river banks are still at very high levels (fluctuating at peak levels or receding but very slowly); the water level at 7:00 a.m. on October 11 on Cau River at Phuc Loc Phuong was 9.11m; Thuong River at Phu Lang Thuong was 7.25m.
To ensure the safety of dykes and respond to large floods, the Provincial Civil Defense Command recommends that agencies, units and localities not be subjective or negligent, continue to mobilize forces to strengthen inspection, monitoring, urging and patrolling on dyke routes to promptly detect and handle incidents from the first hour; closely monitor incidents of eroding, seepage, landslides of dyke slopes and culverts under the dykes.
At the same time, maintain forces, prepare materials, vehicles, machinery, and equipment to protect the dike, and be ready to handle according to the 4-on-the-spot principle. Only operate forced drainage pumps into the river according to operating regulations approved by competent authorities, while ensuring flood safety of the dike...
