The Ministry of Science and Technology has officially announced a list of major challenges in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation, marking an important step in implementing Resolution 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo and opening up breakthrough opportunities for the strong development of the science and technology sector.
Accordingly, the list includes 21 key problems identified to enhance national competitiveness, accelerate digital transformation, promote innovation, and develop advanced technologies. These problems not only provide opportunities for Vietnamese digital technology businesses to access, research, and solve practical issues, but also contribute to building a solid foundation for the country's sustainable development in the context of international integration.
The major projects selected by the Ministry of Science and Technology encompass many important fields such as: artificial intelligence (AI) applications, the Internet of Things (IoT), biotechnology, and blockchain... In particular, among these, projects on building a national AI-integrated biological data platform, developing digital platforms and smart sensors for sustainable aquaculture, and researching and producing advanced 5G and 6G equipment are receiving significant attention.
Many projects also focus on researching, producing, and manufacturing low-orbit satellites; developing Make in Vietnam AI models; building semiconductor chip manufacturing plants; building and deploying a Vietnamese blockchain service network; and developing a system for exploiting, analyzing, and mapping industrial property to serve national technology development and innovation...
The Ministry of Science and Technology assigns Vietnamese digital technology enterprises the task of proactively researching, mobilizing resources, and participating in solving major recognized problems. Agencies and units under the Ministry of Science and Technology that are in charge of these major problems actively coordinate, support, and connect information to enable Vietnamese digital technology enterprises to participate effectively and practically.
The issuance of the list of major problems demonstrates the Ministry of Science and Technology's determination to effectively implement Resolution 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo ; identifying the pivotal role of science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation in national development.
Recently, Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung stated that in order to develop science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation, large enterprises must take the lead. To have large enterprises, the State needs to assign tasks and commission projects; because only with large projects can Vietnamese enterprises grow. This is the responsibility of large enterprises to the country, and also the task assigned to national technology enterprises by Resolution 57-NQ/TW, with the goal of forming large technology enterprises in Vietnam.
