The 16th writing contest "Ordinary but noble examples" was jointly organized by the People's Army Newspaper (QĐND); the Press - Publishing Department, the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission; the QĐND Publishing House and the North Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank. The contest aims to discover and honor typical individuals who are Vietnamese citizens of all backgrounds, ages, and occupations, who do ordinary daily tasks but bring high value and efficiency, creating positive changes in each agency, unit, and field of work; people who always try to overcome circumstances and fate, dare to think, dare to do, dare to take responsibility, put the interests of the country, the interests of the nation - people and the community above all.

The contest is one of the meaningful political and cultural activities towards the celebration of major holidays in two years (2024, 2025); at the same time, it demonstrates creativity in implementing the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style.
After nearly 8 months of launching (from December 5, 2024 - July 31, 2025), the Organizing Committee received more than 400 entries in the categories of reportage, memoir, portrait memoir... Good quality articles were selected by the People's Army Newspaper to be published in the People's Army Newspaper daily, People's Army Newspaper Weekend, Events and Witnesses Monthly, and People's Army Electronic Newspaper.

The Organizing Committee said that the contest attracted the participation of many authors, both professional and non-professional writers, across the country, in which many articles were carefully invested, expressed vividly, attractively and highly convincingly. Through two rounds of judging by the Preliminary Council and the Final Council, the Organizing Committee selected 22 best works to award prizes to authors and groups of authors. The winning works were collected by the Organizing Committee and printed into the book series "Simple but noble examples" in the book series "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style" published by the People's Army Publishing House.

Speaking at the closing and awarding ceremony of the contest, Senior Lieutenant General Le Quang Minh, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, Secretary of the Party Committee of the General Department of Politics, highly appreciated the People's Army Newspaper and the units that coordinated the organization of the contest. Senior Lieutenant General Le Quang Minh affirmed that the contest is not only a forum for honoring, but also contributes to nurturing and spreading noble humanistic values throughout society; adding spiritual strength for officers and soldiers of the entire army to strive to excel in all assigned tasks. At the ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded 3 A prizes to authors and groups of authors, including: Group of authors Pham Van Tuan and Tong Thi Hai Ly with the work "Journalist Ha Dang - a giant of Vietnam's revolutionary journalism"; author Nguyen Thi Huong with the work "General Nguyen Huy Hieu - A simple general and a life of dedication"; group of authors Nguyen Manh Thang and Duong Thi Thu Hoa with the work "Missile girl". In addition, the Organizing Committee also announced and awarded 3 A prizes; 3 B prizes; 4 C prizes; 12 Encouragement prizes and awarded certificates of honor, souvenir cups and cash prizes (10 million VND) to each character in the 22 winning works.
At the 16th closing and award ceremony, Major General Doan Xuan Bo, Editor-in-Chief of the People's Army Newspaper, also launched the 17th "Simple but Noble Examples" Writing Contest (2025-2026). Accordingly, the contest continues to be organized by the People's Army Newspaper; the Press-Publishing Department, the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission; the People's Army Publishing House and Bac A Commercial Joint Stock Bank, with the participation and accompaniment of the 20th Army Corps - Saigon Newport Corporation. The contest rules will be published in the People's Army Newspaper. It is expected that the closing and award ceremony of the 17th contest will be held in October 2026.
