Mobile police forces have been reinforced to assist in regulating and directing traffic at the Phap Van - Cau Gie toll station area.

Of the traffic accidents, 57 occurred on roads, resulting in 27 deaths and 45 injuries. One accident occurred on the railway, injuring one person. There were no accidents on waterways.

According to the National Traffic Safety Committee, traffic order and safety in Hanoi and neighboring localities are ensured, with no prolonged traffic congestion or serious traffic accidents occurring.

Around 3 PM on August 30th, traffic volume increased significantly on inner-city roads and gateway routes to Hanoi as people left the city for other localities to begin their holiday, leading to prolonged congestion, slow traffic, and difficulties (Phap Van, Thang Long Bridge, Phu Dong Bridge, Co Linh). In particular, traffic volume was extremely high in the southern gateway areas (Phap Van, Giai Phong).

At the southern gateway, traffic congestion mainly occurred at the intersections of Giai Phong - Kim Dong and Giai Phong - Phap Van due to traffic conflicts between high-volume lanes and some areas undergoing infrastructure construction. Authorities deployed 100% of their personnel to ensure traffic order and safety and to manage traffic congestion. By 10 PM, traffic volume decreased, and traffic returned to normal.

On the morning of August 31st, traffic volume increased significantly on the elevated section of Ring Road 3, especially the section from Khuat Duy Tien towards Phap Van, due to a traffic accident. Hanoi City Police proactively handled, regulated, and redirected traffic. Traffic in the inner city area remained stable.

At the intersection of Ring Road 3 - Giai Phong - National Highway 1 (near Nuoc Ngam bus station), traffic volume increased dramatically. By 10:30 AM, traffic volume decreased, the situation stabilized, and vehicles moved according to the regulations of the authorities.

In Ho Chi Minh City and surrounding areas, on August 30th, traffic at the city's entry and exit points and on the two expressways, Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay and Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong - My Thuan, saw a high volume of vehicles, moving slowly. Authorities coordinated traffic control and diversion from a distance to prevent traffic congestion.

On National Highway 60, in the area of Rach Mieu Bridge connecting Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces, on August 30th, traffic was heavy and moving slowly when ascending the bridge. The Rach Mieu toll station temporarily suspended toll collection from 3:34 PM to 3:47 PM. The police of Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces coordinated to regulate and redirect traffic from a distance, preventing prolonged and serious traffic congestion.

The Ho Chi Minh City Police and related units have proactively coordinated traffic flow management and regulation to ensure safe movement of vehicles and prevent prolonged traffic congestion.

During the day, local police checked, detected, and handled 12,636 violations; imposed fines totaling over 26.5 billion VND; temporarily seized 178 cars, 3,639 motorcycles, and 138 other vehicles; and revoked 2,353 driver's licenses. These violations included 2,572 cases of drunk driving; 2,921 cases of speeding; 132 cases of overloading; 31 cases of exceeding size limits; and 15 cases of drug-related offenses.

On National Highway 1A, police forces detected and recorded 1,784 violations, imposing fines totaling nearly 2.7 billion VND; revoking 280 driver's licenses, and temporarily seizing 261 vehicles. These violations included 201 cases of drunk driving; 2 cases of drug use; 667 cases of speeding; 20 cases of overloading; and 14 cases of oversized vehicles.

On the highway, traffic police inspected and recorded 152 violations, imposing fines totaling 718 million VND, revoking 94 driver's licenses, and temporarily seizing 4 vehicles.

On waterways, authorities detected and handled 198 violations, imposing fines totaling 217 million VND; on railways, they detected and handled 2 violations, imposing fines of 2 million VND.

"From noon on August 30th to noon on August 31st, traffic order and safety were ensured, although some congestion occurred on some main roads leading into and out of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. This was due to a sudden increase in traffic volume, exceeding the capacity of the transportation infrastructure system. Authorities implemented traffic management plans and directed traffic flow to minimize congestion on the first day of the holiday," said Mr. Tran Huu Minh, Chief of the Office of the National Traffic Safety Committee.
