4 defendants sentenced to prison for drug trafficking and possession

DTO - On May 14, the People's Court of Hong Ngu City opened a criminal trial against four defendants: Le Manh Hung (born in 1982, residing in Long Binh Hamlet, Long Khanh B Commune, Hong Ngu District); Le Nhut Linh (born in 1999, residing in Hamlet 1, Thuong Phuoc 2 Commune, Hong Ngu District); Bui Van Phu (born in 1988) and Nguyen Hau Anh (born in 1999), both residing in Hamlet 2, An Thanh Ward, Hong Ngu City, for the crimes of "Illegal trading of narcotics" and "Illegal possession of narcotics".

According to the indictment, at 9:00 p.m. on October 15, 2024, the police force conducted an inspection at Sao Mai Motel (An Phuoc Hamlet, An Binh A Ward, Hong Ngu City) and discovered Hung hiding a nylon bag containing drugs, weighing 1.645 grams.

Through investigation, Hung confessed that he bought the above drugs from Phu, for more than 3 million VND. Linh and Anh were given drugs by Phu to deliver to Hung.

Defendant Hung was sentenced to 7 years and 6 months in prison by the People's Court of Hong Ngu Town (now the People's Court of Hong Ngu City) for "Illegal drug trafficking" and to 2 years in prison by the People's Court of Dong Thap Province for "Theft of property"; Defendant Phu was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison by the People's Court of Hong Ngu City for "Illegal possession of drugs".

At the end of the trial, the panel of judges sentenced defendant Hung to 7 years in prison; defendant Phu to 4 years in prison; defendants Anh and Linh each to 2 years and 6 months in prison.
