Agribank Party Committee: Solid core, leading the transformation of the entire system

Agribank Party Committee leads the key financial institution

Over the past 37 years of establishment and development, the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank) has always maintained its position as a leading state-owned commercial bank, especially in the field of "agriculture, rural areas". Behind these impressive figures is the core leadership role of the Agribank Party Committee - a strong political organization that has constantly innovated, adapted and led the system to comprehensive development.

In the 2020-2025 term, in the context of many fluctuations and challenges in the world and the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic, geopolitical instability, natural disasters, climate change, etc., the Agribank Party Committee has promoted its courage, intelligence and high spirit of solidarity. From thoroughly grasping and seriously implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, the Resolution of the 3rd Central Business Bloc Party Congress, to concretizing them into action programs suitable to the characteristics of the banking system.

During its term, the Agribank Party Committee has twice received party organizations from other units (in 2021 and 2023), thereby completing the system-wide Party Committee model consisting of 211 affiliated party organizations and more than 24,500 party members - accounting for 60% of the total number of employees in the system. In addition to organizing a synchronous apparatus, the Party Committee also focuses on improving the quality of party members and the fighting strength of each party organization.

Attention has been paid to aspects of political, ideological, and ethical education, personnel organization, inspection, supervision, and mass mobilization. Many party members and cadres play a pioneering and exemplary role, contributing to consolidating a clean and strong political system, creating motivation for the entire system to successfully complete the set targets.

With comprehensive efforts, the Agribank Party Committee has exceeded 4/4 targets set by the Resolution of the 10th Congress. In particular, the rate of party members completing their tasks well always reaches at least 80% each year; 5,654 new party members were admitted - equal to 177% of the plan, far exceeding the level assigned by the Party Committee of the Bloc.

From the achieved results, Agribank's reputation and brand continue to be enhanced. During its tenure, Agribank was honored to receive many noble awards from the Party, State, Government, and State Bank such as: First-class Labor Medal, TOP 50 largest enterprises in Southeast Asia according to Fortune's rankings; continued to be ranked Ba2 by Moody's, Stable outlook and BB+ by Fitch Ratings, Stable outlook, equivalent to the national credit rating and the highest rating for Vietnamese banks.

Deploying political tasks - connecting visions, accompanying innovation

Agribank Party Committee not only plays the role of political core but also is the center for strategic planning for the entire system. Many major plans and projects have been implemented throughout, such as: Development strategy project to 2025, orientation to 2030; Agribank restructuring project associated with bad debt settlement; digital transformation strategy... With close direction, Agribank has achieved impressive business results: total assets exceeding 2.2 million billion VND, outstanding loans to the economy of nearly 1.8 million billion VND, capital mobilization of more than 2 million billion VND. In particular, the bank was supplemented with charter capital of 17,100 billion VND, raising total capital to more than 51,600 billion VND, increasing competitiveness and expanding business activities. Agribank continues to be the "locomotive" in providing credit to the agricultural and rural sectors - accounting for about 65% of outstanding loans in this sector. The bank is also a pioneer in implementing green credit, green growth and ESG, implementing a comprehensive financial strategy, and playing a supporting role in carbon credit transactions worth nearly 51.5 million USD. Not only a commercial bank, Agribank also leaves a deep impression with its role as a "Bank for the community", dedicating more than 2,650 billion VND to social security activities. From education, healthcare, building charity houses, overcoming natural disasters... Agribank is present in all areas.

Not only at the central level, but also at the local level, the Party Committee plays a central role in connecting. An example is in Nam Dinh, where the role of the Agribank Party Committee is clearly demonstrated through the harmonious coordination between the Party organization, the bank branch and the local government.

Mr. Vu Tan Bang, Party Secretary and Director of Agribank Nam Dinh, said: To prepare for the conversion to a two-level government model, the Board of Directors of Agribank province and the directors of its branches have proactively contacted and worked with the district and commune authorities. Many district-level officials are currently assigned to hold key positions in the communes. These are people who have effectively cooperated with Agribank in the past, so the existing relationship will continue to support the work in the coming time.

"We always receive positive support from authorities at all levels, therefore, Agribank considers this a key factor to help the banking system promote its role in supporting people, especially in the field of agricultural and rural development," said Mr. Vu Tan Bang.

From a local perspective, Mr. Cao Hoang Nam, Secretary of Giao Thuy Commune, said that the Party Cell and Agribank branch have a close relationship, linking socio-economic development with banking goals. From there, it contributes to raising the average income per capita of the district to nearly 100 million VND/year.

Agribank Giao Thuy has been the leading unit in the province in the emulation movement for 3 consecutive years, and is a first-class branch.

Agribank Giao Thuy Branch actively participates in social security with many meaningful activities such as: building 30 charity houses, donating medical equipment worth 5 billion VND...

"This result is the combination of many factors, including the leadership of Agribank province, the coordination of the district government and especially the leading and exemplary role of the Agribank Party Committee," said Mr. Cao Hoang Nam.

The leader of Agribank Nam Dinh branch shared: The operational indicators of Nam Dinh branch all exceeded the targets such as: Mobilized capital increased by an average of 10.6%/year, far exceeding the Resolution of the Party Congress (6-8%/year); Outstanding loans increased by an average of 8%/year, exceeding the Resolution by 2% (6-8%/year); Credit quality was guaranteed...

One of the bright spots in Giao Thuy is the loan group model, closely coordinating between the Party cell, branch leaders and local authorities.

"Agribank Giao Thuy has been the leading unit in the province in the emulation movement for three consecutive years, a first-class branch. We could not have achieved that without close coordination with local authorities, especially in implementing the loan group model," shared the leader of Agribank Nam Dinh.

Agribank Nam Dinh leaders shared more: In the context of Giao Thuy gradually transforming into an industrial locality, Agribank Nam Dinh also clearly identified the strategic adjustment direction, from serving traditional customers, expanding large enterprises, maintaining the role of providing capital and key financial services.
