DTO - Family is a loving home, an educational environment, nurturing and motivating each individual to develop. Therefore, building a prosperous, progressive, happy and civilized family plays a very important role. Aware of that, many households in the province have promoted their sense of responsibility, built prosperous, progressive, happy and equal families, nurtured and educated their children to be successful and actively contributed to activities and movements in the residential area, contributing to the socio -economic development of the locality.

Mr. Nguyen Van Ut and his wife always support and share family work.

Sharing together

Getting married is the first step to building a happy family. However, to have a truly happy family, there must be love, sharing, and understanding between husband and wife in life. With that in mind, the family of Mr. Nguyen Van Ut (born in 1953) and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Anh (born in 1962), residing in Hamlet 2, Binh Hang Trung Commune, Cao Lanh District, always care, share, and accompany each other in life. Since then, their family has always been filled with happy laughter.

Married in 1978, Mr. Ut and Mrs. Anh had 5 children (1 son and 4 daughters). In 1981, Mr. Ut moved out and started a business with 5 hectares of rice fields given by his parents. At that time, rice cultivation often had bad harvests and sometimes lost value. With a tight economy and many children, Mr. Ut's family life was very difficult. As the children grew up, Mr. Ut and his wife always worried and thought a lot about their future. Mr. Nguyen Van Ut shared: "Many nights, my wife and I stayed up all night thinking and worrying about our children because we had little education and no stable job, so life was difficult. Our ancestors used to say "A field full of mangroves is not as good as a job in hand", without education, how can we have a future. From then on, I was determined to overcome difficulties to take care of my children's education".

When the children were in primary school and then high school, Mr. Út and his wife tried to take care of them. However, in 1998, when their first daughter graduated from high school and was admitted to the Pedagogical Department of Dong Thap Pedagogical College (now Dong Thap University), the burden of tuition fees began to weigh heavily on the couple's shoulders. Not long after, the remaining four children also passed the entrance exams to colleges and intermediate schools. The income from 5 hectares of rice fields could not support the whole family.

Determined to give their children a good education, the couple had to work hard. In addition to farming, Mr. Ut took on all kinds of jobs, from digging the soil, weeding the rice, spraying pesticides to setting nets and placing traps to earn extra income. At home, Mrs. Anh also raised chickens and ducks to cover living expenses and school fees for her children.

Regardless of their own hardships, Mr. Ut and Mrs. Anh always put their children's future first. Every household expense was carefully saved by them to take care of their children's education. With the motto "Small savings make big", the couple not only covered their children's education expenses but also rented and then bought more farmland to expand their farming. Overcoming difficult days, they raised their children to be successful. Besides taking care of material things, they always taught and instilled in their children's minds that studying is the most important path to a bright future.

Not only taking care of their children's education, Mr. Ut and his wife also believed that: "Family is the most fertile land to nurture personality". Therefore, they lived a harmonious, exemplary life, using their own example to teach their children about filial piety to grandparents, parents and love for their homeland and country. Not letting their parents down, all 5 children studied well and were stable in their careers. The most outstanding is the third son, Mr. Nguyen Van Chi (born in 1981), who works at Binh Hang Trung Primary School (Cao Lanh district). For many years, he has been a grassroots Emulation Fighter and has been honored with the title of "Excellent Teacher at the provincial level". The grandparents' joy seems to be multiplied when the third generation, the grandchildren, are also filial, obedient and good at studying.

Not only is he an exemplary father, raising his children to become useful people for society, Mr. Ut also actively participates in local activities and movements. As the Head of the People's Self-Management Group No. 2, he enthusiastically propagates and mobilizes households to comply with the Party's policies and the State's laws. He also regularly coordinates with local authorities to mobilize the construction of charity houses and give gifts to the poor and families in difficult circumstances. In the group, he mobilizes members to contribute, support gifts and scholarships for poor but studious students in the locality.

In recognition of these contributions, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded a Certificate of Merit to Mr. Nguyen Van Ut for his outstanding achievements in the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life", family work and prevention of domestic violence in the province in the period 2021 - 2023.

Mr. Le Van Lu and his wife always accompany, love each other and care abouteducating and teaching their children and grandchildren.

Happiness from the simplest things

Born into a poor farming family, through matchmaking, Mr. Le Van Lu (born in 1964) and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Phung (born in 1961), residing in Hamlet 3, Tan My Commune, Thanh Binh District, came together in 1984. They have 2 sons. Over 40 years of living together, with boundless love, Mr. Lu and his wife have always accompanied and shared with each other to overcome all difficulties and challenges in life, building a happy and fulfilled family.

Previously, Mr. Lu worked as an accountant for Group 15 in Tan My commune; currently, he holds the position of Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Phat Dat Agricultural Service Cooperative (Tan My commune, Thanh Binh district). Mrs. Phung is a housewife. Although each person has a different job, in family life, Mr. Lu and his wife are always friendly, kind, loving and share with each other to build a happy family.

For Mr. Lu and his wife, happiness is not something grand but is built from love and sharing in the simplest things. It can be just the dinners waiting for each other to come home to eat together, the caring care when one of them is "unwell", or the times sitting together to share, to get rid of all the worries and concerns in work and life to understand each other better. Mr. Le Van Lu confided: "For decades of living together, my wife and I have always shared, loved and given in to each other. Every time I come home from work, just hearing a question from her makes me feel all my fatigue disappear. My wife and I never raise our voices in front of our children to avoid affecting their psychology."

Mr. Lu and his wife always strive to develop the family economy. At the same time, they care for and educate their children to become good people, people who are useful to society. Currently, his eldest son has a stable job as a welder, and his youngest son also has a job outside the province. Mrs. Nguyen Thi Phung confided: “To teach our children and grandchildren to be good people, first of all, my husband and I always live exemplary lives, be kind to everyone around us; teach our children and grandchildren to respect their elders, give way to their juniors, and be filial to their grandparents and parents. With the education from a young age, my children and grandchildren are very obedient, polite, and filial.”

Although busy with daily work, Mr. Lu and his wife always devote all their love to taking care of and educating their grandchildren, guiding them to do business to stabilize their economy and build a happy family. In particular, they maintain family meals to bond and express the love of parents for their children and grandchildren. Mr. Le Van Lu said: “The secret of my wife and I is very simple. If we want a peaceful and stable home, first of all, the husband and wife must be of one mind. Whatever we do, we discuss it over and over again, come to an agreement, and then decide. Another equally important thing is to take care of business, because only when the economy is stable will life be stable and the family happy. Just like that, we work together to take care of the economy and keep the family warm and peaceful.”

With efforts in building a happy family, for many years, Mr. Lu's family has been recognized by the People's Committee of the commune as a typical cultural family.

The family of Mr. Nguyen Van Ut and Mr. Le Van Lu are two of many happy families in the province. With love and sharing for each other as the saying goes, “A husband and wife working together can drain the East Sea”, they have built a happy family with love, understanding and raised their children to adulthood. These actions contribute to raising, educating, and forming good personalities of each individual, preserving the good traditions of Vietnamese families.
