On June 26, 2025, Vietnam Post Corporation (Vietnam Post) and Honda Vietnam Company (HVN) held a handover ceremony of 205 electric vehicles at Hanoi City Post Office, bringing the total number of electric motorbikes being used by Vietnam Post across the system to more than 400 vehicles.
Representatives of Hanoi Post Office and Honda Vietnam representatives cut the ribbon to perform the vehicle handover ceremony.
The new vehicles will be distributed to postal workers at the Centers in the capital. This is an important step in the strategy of sustainable development and "greening" the delivery and logistics activities of Vietnam Post to reduce emissions, save energy and improve the quality of postal services nationwide.
Since 2021, Vietnam Post has been piloting the use of electric motorbikes for delivery in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The test results have shown savings of up to 30% in operating costs, while significantly reducing CO2 emissions in inner-city areas. From July 1, 2025, new electric vehicles will officially roll out in Hanoi under a rental model, helping to optimize investment and maintenance costs. The project is the result of cooperation between Vietnam Post and Honda Vietnam, in a joint effort to promote energy transition and develop a sustainable transportation ecosystem.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Bui Van Hoang - Director of Hanoi Post Office affirmed: Hanoi Post Office believes that it will bring great benefits to workers, businesses, and people of the capital, while contributing to protecting the capital's environment to become greener, cleaner, and more beautiful. Vietnam Post Corporation in general and Hanoi Post Office in particular will continue to be a leading enterprise, completing the green transformation goal and contributing to the completion of Vietnam's commitment to NET-Zero by 2050."
Director of Hanoi Post Office Bui Van Hoang spoke at the ceremony.
Electric motorbikes are considered an environmentally friendly delivery solution, especially suitable for large cities like Hanoi thanks to their advantages of reduced noise, zero emissions and operating costs 20-30% lower than vehicles using traditional gasoline engines.
The switch to electric motorbikes demonstrates Vietnam Post's commitment to innovation, professionalization and a sustainable future. At the same time, this is also a step in line with the sustainable development orientation, in line with the Government's goal of carbon neutrality by 2050 and Hanoi's energy transition strategy.
Vietnam Post is currently using more than 400 electric vehicles across the system.
Vietnam Post is the first enterprise in the postal industry in Vietnam to launch the "Postgreen" movement, encouraging the use of environmentally friendly packaging and applying green shipping models.
The widespread deployment of electric vehicles not only marks an expansion in the scale of green delivery vehicles, fulfilling the mission of "Serving the community", but is also an important milestone in the journey to realize the strategy of becoming a typical digital transformation enterprise and comprehensive "greening" in the supply chain of Vietnam Post.
