4 types of drinks that the more you drink, the faster your liver will deteriorate, the second type will surprise everyone

Liver health depends a lot on daily eating habits. Sometimes, drinks that are good but consumed in excess or mixed incorrectly can become a burden on the liver.

The liver is an important organ that plays a role in detoxification, fat metabolism, and protein synthesis. However, the habit of consuming some popular drinks can cause serious damage to the liver, leading to hepatitis, cirrhosis, fatty liver, and increasing the risk of liver cancer. If you don't want this to happen, there are 4 types of drinks you should learn to control the dosage or avoid as much as possible:

1. Carbonated soft drinks

Carbonated soft drinks are drinks that contain large amounts of sugar, especially fructose syrup. A study by Tufts University (USA) shows that regular consumption of this type of sugar causes fat accumulation in the liver, leading to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.

In addition, many studies have shown that people who drink more than 2 cans of carbonated soft drinks a day are 5 times more likely to develop non-alcoholic fatty liver disease than those who do not drink. This is because the liver has to work too hard to metabolize this amount of sugar, creating triglycerides and leading to cirrhosis, progressing to liver cancer if prolonged.

2. Sugary fruit juice

Many people think that fruit juice is healthy, but both fresh and canned juices contain large amounts of fructose. Moderate consumption and low-sugar fruits are good, but drinking too much can be a “hostile” to the liver.

Research from Emory University (USA) shows that fructose from fruit juice increases the risk of non-alcoholic fatty liver by more than 30%. For canned fruit juice, the situation is even more serious because they contain preservatives and chemical sugars, making the liver work harder to remove toxins. Over time, the liver will lose function, accumulate a lot of fat, and be attacked by cirrhosis and hepatitis.

3. Tea brewed too strong

It is undeniable that tea is always in the group of healthy drinks. Green tea even has the effect of detoxifying and reducing fatty liver. However, that is when you drink tea properly. If you drink tea that is too strong for a long time, sooner or later the liver will become fibrotic, even ulcerated due to inflammation and cancer.

Because when drinking tea that is too strong, the high caffeine and polyphenol content in tea can cause liver damage. According to research from Harvard Medical University (USA), drinking 5-7 cups of strong tea a day increases the risk of liver cell damage due to excessive accumulation of these compounds.

Caffeine in strong tea stimulates the nervous system and increases liver activity, causing chronic hepatitis. In addition, excess polyphenols lead to oxidative imbalance in the liver, damaging liver cells and promoting fibrosis.

4. Alcohol

Alcohol has long been known as a leading cause of liver damage. Ethanol in alcohol, when metabolized in the liver, creates acetaldehyde, a toxin that causes inflammation and damage to liver cells.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO, 2019), drinking 3-4 units of alcohol per day over a long period of time increases the risk of cirrhosis by 37%. Alcohol also reduces the liver's ability to fight free radicals, leading to cell damage and increasing the risk of liver cancer.
