It is known that the patients: HTM (70 years old), HVB (70 years old), HV L (35 years old) and HQT (15 years old) are all members of the same family (residing in Quang Lac commune, Lang Son city) and were admitted to the hospital with headaches, stomachaches, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. According to family members, at around 7 p.m. the same day, the family ate wild mushrooms of unknown type, light pink in color, and had eaten them many times before.
About 2 hours after eating, the members began to experience symptoms of headache, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, cramps and frequent loose stools. Afterwards, the 4 patients were taken to the hospital by their families.
After examination and testing, the doctors diagnosed the four patients with mushroom poisoning. The patients were given intravenous fluids to detoxify, emergency gastric lavage, and activated charcoal to absorb the poison. Because the patients were admitted to the hospital early and given timely emergency care, their health has now stabilized and they are expected to be discharged on the afternoon of June 4.
According to the doctor of the Department of Intensive Care - Anti-Poison, Lang Son General Hospital, there are many types of mushrooms, some of which have similar shapes and colors but contain different types of toxins, so people can easily confuse and eat poisonous mushrooms. Previously, the Department of Intensive Care - Anti-Poison, Lang Son General Hospital also treated a number of cases of poisoning due to mistakenly eating poisonous mushrooms that looked similar to edible mushrooms.
Doctors recommend that people should not arbitrarily pick strange mushrooms or wild mushrooms in the forest to eat, and should not use mushrooms of unknown types. After eating any food, if symptoms such as headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea appear, they should quickly go to the nearest medical facility for timely treatment to avoid unfortunate incidents.
