You know, the Rubik's Cube - the multi-colored cube that has been puzzling our brains for decades? However, now this multi-colored, confusing cube has been solved in a new record time. Photo: @Getty. A group of US students from Purdue University can solve a Rubik's Cube faster than you can literally blink, but with the help of their latest robot. Photo: @Purdue University. Matthew Patrohay, Junpei Ota, Aden Hurd and Alex Berta, students at the Elmore School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, met through a co-op program at the school, and together they designed a Rubik's Cube-solving robot, which they named "Purdubik's Cube." The Purdubik's Cube robot solved the puzzle in an almost incomprehensible 103 milliseconds (0.103 seconds). The previous record belonged to engineers at the Mitsubishi Corporation's Parts Manufacturing Engineering Center, whose robot solved the Rubik's Cube puzzle in 305 milliseconds (0.305 seconds). In one video , a visitor can be seen holding a glowing green button, which is connected to a Purdubik's Cube robotic system that holds a Rubik's Cube and shuffles the colors. When the person presses the button, there is a short beep, and then the Rubik's Cube puzzle is solved. Photo: @Purdue University. It can be seen that the entire operation of this robot only takes place in less than a blink of an eye, so fast that viewers almost don't have time to see anything. Photo: @Purdue University. The robot, located on the Purdue University campus in West Lafayette, Indiana, uses machine vision technology for color recognition, a custom-optimized algorithm for real-time processing, and industrial-grade motion control hardware, according to a Purdue University press release. The Purdubik's Cube Robot team, consisting of students Patrohay, Junpei Ota, Aden Hurd and Alex Berta, received official certification from Guinness World Records for their creation.
