1. Washing your face too many times a day

Cleansing is an important step that cannot be skipped to help the skin have the necessary conditions to regenerate. However, over-cleansing will damage the protective barrier, making the skin sensitive and easily irritated.

You should only wash your face twice a day, in the morning and at night. At other times of the day, if you need to clean your face, you can use a gentle towel or splash water on your skin to remove sweat and dirt.

Even if you have oily skin, you should not overuse cleanser but can wash with clean water in between.

2. Leaving the cleanser on your skin for too long

When using makeup remover or cleanser, do not leave it on the skin for too long, as it can easily wear down the skin's natural protective barrier and cause pH imbalance. It is best not to leave these products on the skin for more than 1 minute.

3. Overuse of exfoliating products

Some people worry about their facial skin not being clean, so they often use facial cleansers with exfoliating properties in the hope of deep cleansing. However, this physical exfoliation method often contains scrub particles that can easily cause damage if not paying attention to the frequency and intensity of use.

Rubbing and exfoliating too much can make your skin sensitive, prone to redness and irritation. Whether it is your face or your body, you should not exfoliate more than 3 times a week.

Dermatologists recommend using a mild cleanser that is suitable for your skin type. For the exfoliation step, you should use a chemical exfoliant to deeply clean your pores.

4. Washing your face with water that is too cold or too hot

In the summer, you like to use cold water to wash your face, but in the winter, hot water is the top choice. However, hot or cold water is not a suitable choice because it can easily cause "thermal shock" to the skin, causing irritation and redness.

The best temperature for washing your face is body temperature, around 37 degrees Celsius.

5. Wipe face after washing

This is not wrong, but it is important to note that you should use a soft cotton towel to gently absorb excess water on the skin. Avoid using a face towel to rub or rub hard on the skin, creating a lot of pressure, which can cause damage and make the skin more sensitive.

Besides, you also need to pay attention to washing and drying towels because they are also items that easily accumulate bacteria, dirt, and sweat.
