Mr. Khoa said that as of 7:30 p.m. on August 31, of the 5 tourists who drowned, 4 were in good health, and 1 was in intensive care. When the incident of the tourists drowning occurred, the People's Committee of the special zone sent officials to the scene to visit and encourage the drowned tourists.

According to initial information, at approximately 5:30 PM on August 31st, in the beach area of Ward 7 - Duong Dong, a group of tourists were swimming when large waves caused five tourists to drown. Rescue forces and some tourists promptly rescued the victims, brought them ashore, and provided first aid.

During periods of bad weather, local authorities often send reminders to tourism businesses in the area to ensure the safety of tourists visiting the sea and islands on days with thunderstorms, strong winds, and large waves. In particular, tourists are advised not to swim in the sea during bad weather.

According to the advice of Phu Quoc people, from April to the end of October, the West Sea often has big waves and strong winds. Tourists should be careful when swimming at the beaches in this area.

During the 2-day September 2 holiday, Phu Quoc special economic zone welcomed more than 44,000 visitors, of which more than 9,500 were international visitors.
