5 key activities for Workers' Month 2024

Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and President of the Vietnam Public Employees' Union, at the Action Program for the Workers' Month and Occupational Safety and Health in 2023.

With the theme "Workers' Solidarity - Implementing Resolutions" for Workers' Month 2024, the Vietnam Public Employees' Union at all levels will continue to organize activities that are proving effective, while simultaneously organizing a number of key activities during Workers' Month 2024.

Firstly, the Vietnam Public Employees' Union continues to organize programs such as "Bringing Congress Resolutions into Life," "May Dialogue," and "Thanking Workers"... It also organizes the dissemination, understanding, study, and implementation of resolutions from the Trade Union Congresses at all levels, the Resolution of the 6th Congress of the Vietnam Public Employees' Union, and the Resolution of the 13th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union for the 2023-2028 term, in conjunction with the dissemination of new policies and laws related to the rights of union members and workers. It proposes and coordinates meetings and dialogues between heads of Party committees, government agencies, professional departments, and employers at all levels with union members and workers, in accordance with Resolution No. 02-NQ/TW of the Politburo on "Renewing the Organization and Activities of the Vietnam Trade Union in the New Situation," adapting these to the specific conditions of each agency, unit, and enterprise. Through the "Thank You to Workers" program, trade unions at all levels allocate union financial resources, mobilize social resources and employers to organize appreciation events for union members and workers who have achieved success in their work and production, and have made significant contributions to their agencies, units, and businesses; and to visit, give gifts, and provide support to workers in difficult circumstances.

Secondly, the "Month of Intensive Membership Development and Establishment of Grassroots Trade Unions" will be organized. Trade unions at all levels under the Vietnam Public Employees' Union will intensify propaganda, mobilization, and persuasion efforts to raise awareness among workers and encourage voluntary participation in trade union organizations. They will also review and recommend outstanding union members for Party committees to nurture and consider for admission into the Communist Party of Vietnam .

Thirdly, implement activities to honor union members and workers. Organize events to honor outstanding union members and workers who have made many initiatives, innovations, and achievements in research, study, work, and production. Implement a political campaign "Studying and following the thoughts, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh regarding workers and trade unions"; commend advanced models of studying and following Uncle Ho; and replicate the "Ho Chi Minh Cultural Space" model. Advise delegations of leaders from agencies, units, and trade unions to visit, give gifts, and congratulate workers on the occasion of Workers' Month 2024.

The fourth activity is the "Healthy for Work and Production" program. Trade unions at all levels, in coordination with the leaders of agencies, units, and enterprises, will organize cultural, artistic, and sports activities associated with the launching ceremony and in response to the Workers' Month - the Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health in 2024 and the 138th anniversary of International Labor Day on May 1st. They will also launch a "Running Race for Cadres, Civil Servants, and Workers"...

Regarding propaganda activities, the Vietnam Public Employees' Union will widely disseminate among its members and workers the Resolution and Action Program implementing the Resolution of the 13th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union, as well as the resolutions and thematic programs implementing the resolutions of trade union congresses at all levels...
