Warm workers
Just hearing that the Industrial Parks Union of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province is preparing to organize activities in Workers' Month 2024, Ms. Danh Na (worker of Saigon Paper Joint Stock Company - My Xuan A Industrial Park) was both happy and sad. She and her husband are both from far away provinces, came to Ba Ria - Vung Tau to do business and got married, but life is still difficult.
Ms. Na shared: At that time, my family had a small child and was renting a house, so life was difficult. We didn't have a TV yet, and were planning to save up to buy one. When I participated in the Workers' Month program in 2023, I unexpectedly won the special prize of a TV worth 7.3 million VND in the lucky draw. This was a big surprise, my husband and I felt very lucky and touched by the activities of the Workers' Month. Many of my colleagues also received valuable gifts and received attention from the community.
Workers' Month is not only an occasion for gifts to be given, but also an opportunity for union members to be creative in taking care of the lives of union members and workers. Also around this time last year, Ho Chi Minh City was bustling with activities aimed at workers and laborers. In particular, the Binh Tan District Labor Federation (LDLĐ) had a "1+1" model. Implementing this model, a grassroots union will take care of at least one union member or laborer with a serious illness. With the motto: "One more worker being cared for means one less difficulty, one less miserable situation that they themselves have to face", many businesses in the area have responded. Just a few days after the launch, 34 workers with serious illnesses and in difficult circumstances currently working at companies and units in the district have received support from the grassroots trade unions with a budget of 500,000 VND to 1 million VND/person/month, supported for 12 months.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa - teacher at Bao Ngoc Kindergarten (Tan Tao Ward, Binh Tan District), has a leaky heart valve, has to have a pacemaker, is currently renting a room, and is in difficult family circumstances. She is currently the main breadwinner supporting her husband and two young children. In response to her family's difficulties, the school's Union where she works has supported her with 500,000 VND/month. Ms. Hoa shared: "The support, care and encouragement from the school's Union helps me feel secure in my work, take care of my family, and try to overcome this difficult situation."
Binh Duong is a locality with a large number of workers in the country, the theme of Workers' Month "Connecting workers, building organizations" has also brought many practical benefits to workers, especially "Workers' Markets", "Discount Sales Week for Workers", "Workers' Cultural and Sports Festival", "Health Care Festival"...
Continue to promote tradition
2024 is the 13th time the Workers' Month program has been organized according to the Decision of the Central Party Secretariat. Since then, each year, the activities of the Workers' Month have become more and more diverse, rich and practical. From mainly reviewing traditions and taking care of material life, today, many programs and activities to take care of cultural, spiritual and health life have also been implemented. In particular, also during the Workers' Month, a series of dialogue programs with workers were organized. Typically, in Hanoi, the Chairman of the City People's Committee directly had a dialogue with workers. Thereby, union members and workers were able to send their thoughts and recommendations directly to the head of the city government. From there, many issues were grasped by the government and solutions were found, especially issues related to the daily needs of workers such as: Housing issues, labor safety, overtime regimes for workers, etc.
Promoting the significance of Workers' Month in recent years, in 2024, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has directed provincial Labor Confederations to plan to implement Workers' Month with the theme: "Worker solidarity - Resolution implementation". In which, the main activities include: "Bringing the Congress resolution into life"; "May dialogue"; "Thematic contact with worker voters"; "Thanking workers"... At the same time, deploying the organization of "Peak month for developing union members, establishing grassroots unions"; deploying activities to honor exemplary workers; "Healthy to work and produce" program.
These days are the time when union officials at all levels are extremely busy preparing activities for workers, from organizing cultural and sports activities, to taking care of health, especially preparing gifts for workers. In Bac Ninh, in addition to the gifts they will receive, workers are excitedly waiting for the first Football Tournament for workers, civil servants, and laborers or the contest for talented and charming female workers... In Hanoi, union members are also excited about the festivals held at Bac Thang Long Industrial Park, Thach That Industrial Park...
There is still more than a month to go until Workers’ Month. But all over the country, preparations for Workers’ Month are bustling and workers are eagerly waiting. Because for a long time, Workers’ Month has been considered “Tet month” for workers.

Affirming the role of representing, caring for, and protecting the rights and interests of union members
Workers' Month has become a regular activity of all levels of Vietnam's Trade Unions, with the goal of caring for and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members, cadres, civil servants and public employees, contributing to building harmonious, stable and progressive labor relations. Through Workers' Month, enterprises and production establishments with workers need to carry out information and propaganda well; respond to and participate in Workers' Month with practical activities. Specifically, such as organizing: Dialogue between business owners, Trade Unions and workers; organizing activities to care for the lives and jobs of workers... In addition, units need to strengthen supervision and coordinate inspection with affiliated trade unions. Through the activities of Workers' Month, trade unions at all levels clearly demonstrate their role in representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers, creating more attention from Party committees, authorities, the political system, business owners, and the whole society for workers.

Create motivation for workers and laborers to promote creativity
During the Workers' Month 2024, the Long Bien District Labor Federation will focus on implementing 5 key activities including: Dialogue to help workers better enjoy the regimes and policies; organizing medical examinations and tests for 400 workers at enterprises and union members in difficult circumstances with a total amount of 350 million VND; presenting gifts to workers who have occupational accidents and diseases; organizing the opening of 3 cultural core classes at the grassroots level so that union members can replicate them; opening a volleyball tournament for workers and civil servants in the district... Such activities will contribute to motivating workers and civil servants to promote creativity, build the habit of detecting problems and awareness of improvement, enhance working capacity, contribute to agencies, units and enterprises to overcome difficulties, develop and achieve mutually beneficial goals for both employers and employees.
