Over the years, the people of Chau Son commune have proactively developed economic models suitable to the local conditions, bringing practical results, contributing to increased income, creating momentum to promote socio-economic development and build new rural areas in the locality.
The family of Mr. Nguyen Van Giap, from Na Van village, is one of the exemplary households in the commune in developing the hill and forest economy. Mr. Giap shared: In 2001, his family planted 5 hectares of pine trees, and in 2013, they expanded by another 2.5 hectares of acacia trees and continued planting new trees in subsequent years. Thanks to participating in training courses on planting and caring for forestry trees organized by the commune, the family's forest area has grown and developed well. Currently, the family has about 20 hectares of pine and acacia trees, averaging an income of over 100 million VND per year, contributing to improving the family's living standards and economic development.

Besides developing the forest economy, people in the commune have also boldly invested in livestock farming. The family of Mr. Vi Van Huan is a prime example. Since 2019, after researching market demand, the family has invested in barns and increased their poultry flock. Mr. Huan said: Currently, the family maintains a flock of 1,200-1,300 Tien Yen chickens annually, bringing in an average income of about 200 million VND per year. Compared to before, their lives are much more stable.
Not only these two households, but in recent years, taking advantage of existing potential and advantages, many people in the commune have also been actively developing suitable economic models.
Mr. Nguyen Cong Hung, Chairman of the Chau Son Commune People's Committee, said: Identifying the development of production and the improvement of people's income as an important task contributing to poverty reduction and the construction of new rural areas, the commune's Party committee and government have implemented many solutions to support people's economic development over the years. In particular, the commune focuses on disseminating information and encouraging people to change the structure of crops and livestock suitable to natural conditions, concentrating on developing forest economy and livestock and poultry farming. At the same time, the commune creates conditions for people to participate in training courses, transfer scientific and technical knowledge , and replicate highly effective economic models.
Simultaneously, the commune facilitates people's access to preferential loan capital from banks. To date, the total outstanding loan balance from entrusted capital with the Dinh Lap Branch of the Social Policy Bank has reached over 79.1 billion VND, with 867 borrowing households.
In particular, the commune's Party Committee and government have actively leveraged resources from poverty reduction programs and projects to support people in developing production. During the 2021-2025 period, the commune implemented 20 production development support projects under national target programs, with a total budget of over 9.8 billion VND (over 6.2 billion VND from state support and 3.6 billion VND from people's matching funds), involving 148 households. These projects mainly focused on crop cultivation and livestock farming, contributing to stable livelihoods and helping many households escape poverty and improve their living standards.
Thanks to effective solutions from the commune and the proactive efforts of the people, the commune has now developed production areas and economic models that provide stable income for residents, such as: a 5,400-hectare pine plantation area, a 10,900-hectare acacia plantation area, and nearly 800 hectares of eucalyptus plantation; a poultry farming model with a total flock of 35,000 birds; and models for raising black pigs and cattle… In addition, the commune currently has 7 timber processing facilities; and 5 households raising chickens and ducks on a scale of over 1,000 birds per batch, thereby contributing to improved production efficiency, creating more jobs and income for local laborers.
Thanks to a focus on developing suitable production models, the lives of people in Chau Son commune have gradually improved. To date, the average per capita income of the commune has reached 42.7 million VND/person/year; the multidimensional poverty rate is only 8.05%, a decrease of 2.21% compared to 2024. These results demonstrate the positive impact of developing production models, thereby contributing effectively to poverty reduction in the new rural development program. This is also an important foundation for the locality to continue promoting sustainable socio-economic development in the coming years.
