Ms. Pham Thu Trang assessed that, within the 120-minute time limit, the Math exam consisted of 5 questions covering all knowledge areas, similar to the structure of the 2025 Hanoi 10th grade entrance exam, creating conditions for students to feel confident during the exam.
The content closely follows the 2018 general education curriculum, requiring students to apply the knowledge they have learned to solve the problems.
Pointing out the new aspects of this year's exam, Ms. Trang said that the exam included practical problems with familiar contexts. These problems were not difficult in terms of knowledge but required students to apply their learned knowledge, analytical skills, reading comprehension, and mathematical modeling abilities to achieve full marks.
Regarding the level of differentiation, this teacher believes that the exam effectively categorizes students, with questions covering various cognitive levels: recognition, comprehension, and application.
Some questions are of high difficulty, designed to differentiate between high-achieving and low-achieving students, such as the supplementary question on simplifying expressions (part 2c), the question on circle geometry (question 4), and the question on the application of inequalities (question 5).
Ms. Trang predicted that students with average to above-average academic ability, who have reviewed thoroughly, practiced with sample tests, and carefully calculated and presented their answers, could achieve scores ranging from 6.5 to 7.5 points.
Students with above-average or excellent academic performance, who can solve problems requiring logic and possess a strong foundation in critical thinking, can achieve a score of 8 or higher.
