In 5 years (2019 - 2023), Binh Phuoc province has reduced 6,598 poor ethnic minority households, reaching 130% of the planned target set by the province (reducing 1,000 poor ethnic minority households each year). Thereby, the number of poor ethnic minority households has been reduced from 4,545 households, accounting for 52.7% of the total number of poor households (early 2019) to 516 households. Up to now (2024), according to the latest statistics, Binh Phuoc province has only 574 poor ethnic minority households.
At the conference, answering Dan Viet reporter, Ms. Tran Tuyet Minh - Vice Chairman of Binh Phuoc Provincial People's Committee - said: "The program to reduce 1,000 poor ethnic minority households annually - this is a creative and unique program of the Party Committee and the government of Binh Phuoc province, aiming to support and improve the lives of ethnic minorities.
Binh Phuoc province has mobilized philanthropists and many other resources in society, combined with capital from the Central Government, to implement the program over the past 5 years.

Specifically: Of the total investment capital of 675.7 billion VND for the program, the local budget accounts for 300 billion, the Fatherland Front mobilizes 173 billion, borrowed capital is 147 billion, capital combined from the national program is 52 billion and other sources are 13 billion VND.
The poverty reduction results of poor ethnic minority households have become a stepping stone for poverty reduction in a faster and more sustainable direction; helping ethnic minorities to have closer access to essential needs of life, and to increasingly complete and higher quality social services.

Ms. Minh also added: "During the implementation of the program, together with the leaders of the Provincial Fatherland Front, we regularly inspected, supervised, went directly to the grassroots, and contacted the supported subjects. How to invest capital in the right people, in the right place, to truly reduce poverty for the people...".
By the end of 2023, the number of poor ethnic minority households in the province will be only 574, accounting for 51.2% of the total number of poor households in the province. Therefore, the People's Committee of Binh Phuoc province proposed to the Provincial Party Committee:
From 2024 onwards, the province will not implement the Program to reduce 1,000 poor ethnic minority households. The task of reducing poor ethnic minority households is carried out in the province's annual poverty reduction plan.
In particular, in 2024, the reduction of 292 poor ethnic minority households will be integrated into the target of reducing 500 poor households in 2024 of the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction approved by the Provincial People's Committee.
