Those 50 years, so much love!

Every year, in mid-August, I always have the opportunity to write an article reflecting on my profession and the traditional day of my workplace. This year, the article is still being written, but in a very new context, adding more stories to the history of journalism in my province.

On August 19, 1975, when the country was completely liberated, An Giang Newspaper officially "launched" its new name, replacing the previous Long Chau Ha Newspaper. For half a century, the staff and reporters of An Giang Newspaper have accompanied the development of the province, reaping many outstanding achievements in terms of Party, government and professional work.

With only about 50 active members, we are proud to be "named" for almost all awards in all fields, major and minor press awards in the country and region. In the period 2020 - 2025, the unit has nearly 100 cadres and reporters winning press awards. This is a very proud achievement, not every press agency can achieve it, especially local Party newspapers.

In July 2025, when the revolution to "rearrange the country" took place, we reluctantly left our familiar headquarters at 399B Ha Hoang Ho Street, My Xuyen Ward (now Long Xuyen Ward), and moved to operate at facility 1 (39 Dong Da Street, Rach Gia Ward) and facility 2 (16 Mac Dinh Chi Street, Rach Gia Ward).

Many tearful farewells were said, dozens of colleagues stopped because of their age and career fate. The remaining team was assigned to different departments and offices, operating in 3 different facilities, with few opportunities to gather together like before.

But no difficulty or great change can stop us. At the time of the transition when An Giang - Kien Giang province merged, An Giang Newspaper continued to publish, without a single day of rest. Without the veteran reporters and journalists of the past, the newspaper was filled with young, dynamic staff. We found each other - new colleagues, becoming a new big family called An Giang Newspaper and Radio - Television, together setting out a new determination to develop, in a new land that will "transform the soul".

Journalist Dang Nguyen Hanh Chau - Print Press Department expressed: "The organization and organization of press agencies can be considered a fundamental transformation, helping the press to better promote its role in guiding public opinion, protecting information security, and bringing revolutionary journalism to a modern and professional level. Of course, the journalism team will face difficulties in terms of geographical distance, needing to access everything in the area... With the determination and responsibility of a "soldier on the ideological and cultural front", I will always strive, proactively overcome difficulties, continue to maintain the revolutionary spirit, and contribute to the profession by traveling and writing".

Now, An Giang Newspaper (old) joins its former close friends (Kien Giang Newspaper, Kien Giang Radio and Television Station, An Giang Radio and Television Station), joining forces to form a stronger flow than ever. The 1st Congress of Delegates of the Party Committee of An Giang Newspaper, Radio and Television, term 2025 - 2030, agreed on the motto "Digital transformation is the focus - Innovation, improving the quality of information is the top priority - Journalism economy is the key", associated with the theme of the entire term "Solidarity, discipline - innovation, development".

The organizational structure of An Giang Newspaper and Radio - Television after the merger has been streamlined, unified management, and reduced overlapping functions and tasks. Coordination regulations, publishing and content production processes of printed newspapers, electronic newspapers, radio and television are being built synchronously, harmoniously, and gradually operated stably to serve well the task of information and propaganda on politics, economics, culture, society, national defense and security in the new province; at the same time, well serve the needs of information access and entertainment of the public in the province.

Comrade Le Van Chuyen - Deputy Editor-in-Chief in charge of An Giang Newspaper and Radio - Television affirmed that in the initial stage, although there were still some difficulties in synchronizing processes, coordinating content production and positioning the common brand, the agency initially promoted its combined strength, internal solidarity, improved the quality of propaganda, affirmed its role as a key press agency, contributing to building a modern, multi-platform media ecosystem, promptly serving the tasks of An Giang province after the merger.

“The convergence of resources and experience from An Giang and Kien Giang provinces (old) will help enhance the ability to produce quality, diverse and rich content on many platforms. The new agency has a wider coverage, reaching a large number of readers, audiences and listeners, enhancing its position and influence in the Mekong Delta region. Along with that, the strong development trend of digital technology, multi-platform communication, and social networks has contributed to the agency promoting the application of technology, innovating information transmission methods, and improving propaganda effectiveness. Another important advantage we have received is the attention of Party committees and authorities, creating conditions for the key local media agency to develop in the new period,” emphasized comrade Le Van Chuyen.

Closing 50 years of affection and complete dedication of the old period, An Giang printed newspaper in particular, An Giang Newspaper and Radio - Television in general will continue to maintain the role of "history recorder", writing a new history page of its own. Then, all rivers flow into the ocean, with the ultimate goal: To truly be the voice of the Party, government and people of the province.
