According to Neowin , through the website dev.apple.com, Apple said iOS 17 was available on 66% of all iPhones communicating through the App Store as of February 4, 2024. In addition, 23% of iPhones still run iOS 16 and the remaining 11% run iOS 15 and older.
iOS 17 is now available on 66% of all iPhones
Additionally, Apple also has separate statistics for all iPhone models introduced in the past 4 years (including iPhone 15, iPhone 14, iPhone 13, iPhone 12 and iPhone SE 2/3). As expected, iOS 17 is more popular in this segment, with 76% of all devices running the latest version, 20% running iOS 16 and 4% running iOS 15 or earlier. These figures generally help developers adjust their projects so that their apps reach as many users as possible.
For iPadOS 17, statistics from Apple show that iPad users do not want to upgrade their tablets to the latest version of iPadOS. Specifically, only 53% of iPads have installed iPadOS 17, while iPadOS 16 has 29% of iPads and the remaining 18% of iPads use older versions.
For the most recent iPads (released in the last four years), 61% run iPadOS 17, 29% run iPadOS 16, and 10% run older versions. Interestingly, iOS 17 is being rolled out at a slower pace than iOS 16 during the same time period last year, while iPadOS 17 has been more popular than iPadOS 16.
Since the launch of iOS 17 and iPadOS 17, Apple has released several feature updates for them. The latest version, iOS 17.3/iPadOS 17.3, arrived a few weeks ago, bringing iPhone and iPad users a new wallpaper, collaborative playlists in Apple Music, Lost and Found Protection with additional security measures, etc. It is known that iOS 17 is available for all iPhones released in 2018 or later.
