7-Eleven closes more than 400 stores
Reasons for many 7-Eleven store closures include slowing sales, declining traffic, inflationary pressures and consumers reducing their cigarette purchases.
Accordingly, Seven & I assessed that while the North American economy was "strong overall", low- and middle-income earners had a "more cautious approach to spending" that had affected some 7-Eleven stores, causing sales to decline so much that many stores had to close.
The report did not list the locations that were closing. The 7-Eleven chain has more than 13,000 stores across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, so the closures represent less than 3 percent of the 7-Eleven network.
