How are the 78 AI cameras being installed on the Van Ninh - Cam Lo expressway?

SKĐS - A system of 78 AI cameras is being urgently completed on the Van Ninh - Cam Lo expressway, aiming for synchronized and modern operation.

On May 29th, the Ho Chi Minh Highway Project Management Board announced that the construction unit is currently installing a smart traffic system on the Van Ninh - Cam Lo expressway.

AI cameras are being installed.

Accordingly, the entire route is equipped with 78 AI cameras tasked with monitoring traffic, detecting vehicles, identifying violations and incidents on the route to support the management and operation of the expressway.

In addition to the AI ​​camera system, the construction unit also installed 8 VMS electronic signage, 16 information signs, and 4 electronic toll collection stations with a total of 14 lanes.

Workers are installing the electronic signage system.

At the same time, seven automated weighing lanes were also put into operation at the toll station entrances to enhance vehicle weight control.

Once completed, all data from devices along the route will be connected to the Operations Center located at the intersection with National Highway 9D.

A system for monitoring and ensuring traffic safety is also being installed.

The installation is expected to be completed in June 2026.

The Ho Chi Minh Highway Project Management Board stated that this is an important foundation for managing, monitoring, and operating the expressway in a modern and synchronized manner. To date, the volume of monitoring equipment installation along the route has reached approximately 95%, with the installation expected to be completed in June 2026.

The Van Ninh - Cam Lo section of the North-South Expressway (Eastern phase, 2021-2025) commenced construction in January 2023 and is scheduled for completion on August 19, 2025. The project spans 65.5 km and has a total investment of nearly 9,920 billion VND, with the Ho Chi Minh Highway Project Management Board as the investor.

The route starts from Van Ninh commune (now Truong Ninh commune, Quang Tri province), connecting to the Bung - Van Ninh expressway at the intersection with National Highway 9B. The final section is in Cam Hieu commune (now Hieu Giang commune, Quang Tri province), connecting to the Cam Lo - La Son expressway.
