According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, after reviewing the rural clean water supply program, up to now, in the Eastern Hai Phong area, 88/161 rural water supply works do not ensure quality and must stop operating. These works are scattered in old districts of Hai Phong city such as: Vinh Bao, Kien Thuy, An Lao, Tien Lang, Thuy Nguyen, Duong Kinh.
The 88 water supply works above had to stop operating because they could not meet the clean water needs of local people; the water treatment system had degraded; raw water sources exploited from agricultural water supply canals were at high risk of pollution or raw water sources were contaminated with salt in the dry season; and water treatment technology was outdated.
In the eastern part of Hai Phong, there are still 73 water plants in operation, however, 53 water plants will have to stop operating in the near future because they do not meet the requirements. There are only 20 water plants that basically meet the requirements in terms of scale, service area, technology, and good water supply capacity, and are proposed to be added to the planning, allowing stable and long-term operation.
For water supply works that must stop operating, the Department of Agriculture and Environment recommends that localities mobilize and monitor organizations and individuals who are not allowed to operate in clean water production. At the same time, choose a replacement unit or proactively transfer the business rights and purchase clean water from a capable unit.
