On November 27, Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) approved the investment report and contractor selection plan for the automatic toll collection project at 5 airports including: Noi Bai, Cat Bi, Da Nang , Phu Bai and Tan Son Nhat. After selecting the contractor and signing the contract within the year, the equipment system will be installed after 180 days.

According to the plan, ACV plans to invest more than 214 billion VND from the development investment fund to modernize and synchronize the existing collection systems at the ports. This system helps reduce traffic congestion at the airport entrances and exits, creating convenience for customers and improving the quality of passenger service.
Previously, the Ministry of Transport sent an official dispatch to the Government, proposing to allow a pilot application of non-stop toll collection at airport parking toll stations on the basis of the non-stop electronic toll collection system for roads being deployed by the Ministry of Transport.
With the foundation of millions of cars that have been affixed with ETC tags, the Ministry of Transport will build an integrated non-stop toll collection system at the airport, which can use road ETC tags to pass through the airport toll lane without having to affix additional tags or incur additional procedures.
In terms of procedures, the non-stop electronic toll collection project will need to be adjusted, moving towards expanding many new services such as: seaport fees, parking fees, insurance fees, inspection fees, completing and upgrading the system to move towards organizing free multi-lane toll collection.
Currently, on average, there are about 16,000 - 20,000 vehicles passing through the toll stations at Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat airports every day.
Manually collecting fees for cars entering and leaving the airport, drivers must stop their cars in front of the toll booth to pay cash, leading to traffic jams and affecting the national image when airport toll booths can be considered one of the first gateways to welcome international visitors.
