Adobe stops new 20GB Photography subscriptions

According to TechRadar , Adobe has just announced the decision to discontinue the 20GB Photography package, part of the Creative Cloud service, which includes image editing tools Photoshop and Lightroom. This package has long been a popular low-cost option, suitable for many users, especially photographers. However, from January 15, new users will not be able to sign up for this package and existing users will face a significant price increase.

The 20GB Photography plan offers software like Lightroom and Photoshop that are useful for photo editing needs at an accessible price.

In the US, the 20GB Photography plan will increase from $9.99 to $14.99 per month, a 50% increase. Meanwhile, the 1TB plan for both Photoshop and Lightroom will remain at $19.99 per month. The 1TB Lightroom plan, which only includes Lightroom, will increase from $9.99 to $11.99 per month, a 20% increase.

The discontinuation of the 20GB Photography plan means that those who missed out on signing up will have to choose from the higher-capacity, more expensive plans after January 15. This puts significant pressure on individual users and photographers who don’t need large amounts of storage.

This change has caused many users, especially individual users, to reconsider continuing to use the service. With a price increase of up to 50%, the 20 GB Photography package, once considered a cost-effective solution, is no longer an accessible option. This may force users to switch to larger storage packages or look for other alternatives in the market.

Adobe’s move appears to be part of a new business strategy focused on optimizing Creative Cloud revenue. Pushing users to higher-capacity plans will increase the average value per customer and accommodate growing storage needs.

But the change also raises big questions about the accessibility of digital creative tools to small users. Adobe has not yet announced further details about how it will support users in the future. But it’s clear that the price increase and the removal of the 20GB Photography plan represent a major shift in how the company offers and prices its products and services.
