Artificial AI opens up a new growth race.

At the Vietnam E-commerce Outlook Forum 2026 held on May 27th, delegates noted that the generation of autonomous AI (Agentic AI), with its ability to make decisions and perform tasks independently, will create a turning point for e-commerce and the digital economy in Vietnam.

On May 27th, in Hanoi , the Vietnam E-commerce Association (VECOM) organized its annual event, the Vietnam E-commerce Overview Forum 2026, with the theme "Agentic Commerce - Rapid Growth".

The event brought together hundreds of delegates from government agencies, organizations, technology companies, e-commerce platforms, and the business community both domestically and internationally to discuss the trend of Agent AI and its far-reaching impact on the market in the new era.

In his opening remarks, VECOM Chairman Tran Trong Tuyen stated that Vietnam's e-commerce sector is facing a unique moment.

Over the past five years, the industry has consistently maintained double-digit growth rates, with annual revenues reaching tens of billions of USD. However, instead of simply expanding in scale, the market is now entering a phase of significant qualitative and in-depth development.

According to Mr. Tuyen, the driving force behind this change is Agentic AI – a generation of AI capable of automatically making decisions, coordinating, and performing many tasks in place of humans in business operations.

This is seen as the next major shift in global e-commerce, as AI is no longer just playing a supporting role but is beginning to directly participate in marketing, sales, customer service, logistics, and business management; simultaneously creating a groundbreaking synergy between "buyer's AI" and "seller's AI".

In light of this trend, the Chairman of VECOM warned that if businesses do not quickly make AI a competitive advantage, they will face significant disadvantages in their development and competition in the market.

To adapt and thrive sustainably in the era of agentic commerce, businesses cannot develop in isolation but need close collaboration among all parties involved.

"In this era, we cannot go it alone. For sustainable development, e-commerce needs three pillars: superior technology, agile businesses, and a legal framework that creates a healthy and sustainable development environment," the VECOM Chairman emphasized.

This year's forum is designed with three in-depth discussion sessions, ranging from strategic perspectives to practical implementation.

The first session, themed “The Big Picture: The Age of Agentic Ecommerce,” focused on analyzing how AI agents are redefining marketing, sales, and e-commerce; and provided updates on new policies related to e-commerce, taxation, customs, and digital platform management.

The second session, themed “Agentic AI in Practice: From Application to Breakthrough Growth,” focused on AI application models in retail, fintech, business operations, and content creation.

Meanwhile, the third session, themed "Implementing Agentic Commerce in Businesses," focused on strategies for deploying AI in business practices, from social commerce and livestream commerce to multi-platform management and cross-border e-commerce.

The panel discussion "How will businesses change in the era of AI Agents?" concluded the forum with diverse perspectives from regulatory bodies, organizations, and businesses on the future of e-commerce and the digital economy in Vietnam.

Beyond professional content, the forum also provides an opportunity for the business community to connect, find partners, update on technology trends, and expand cooperation in the context of AI profoundly changing global business operations.

Through this event, VECOM hopes to provide useful information and knowledge to help businesses and retailers build appropriate strategies, and to transform the power of technology into a driving force for Vietnamese businesses to confidently grow in the new phase.
