The Quang Yen Charity Group was established on January 1, 2014. Initially, the group had only about a dozen people, but now it has attracted and gathered about 50 official members. Mr. Ngo Van Quang, Deputy Head of the Group, said: "The members of the Group work in many different sectors and professions. To make it convenient for everyone, the Group holds meetings every Saturday evening and Sunday morning. The Group assigns main members to be in charge of communes and wards in the Quang Yen area, monitoring the local situation, identifying poor households and those in difficult circumstances to propose that the Group help them."
With the motto "Sharing - Loving - Reaching Out - Giving Hands - Dedicated Support," since its establishment, the Group has organized many charitable fundraising activities, helping many people in difficult circumstances. The Group's operating expenses are covered by contributions from members of 50,000 VND/month/person. Simultaneously, it appeals to businesses for financial support; providing clothing and bicycles for poor households and underprivileged children…
Using funds from the group, they maintain a free porridge distribution program at Quang Yen Regional General Hospital every Sunday. Group members prepare the food, cook the porridge, and deliver it to the hospital, distributing it free of charge to patients and their families in difficult circumstances with deep compassion and a spirit of sharing. Each pot of porridge, worth approximately 1 million VND, provides 200-250 servings and contains nutritious ingredients such as rice, bones, meat, mung beans, potatoes, and carrots. To date, after 11 years of implementation, hundreds of thousands of bowls of this charitable porridge have been distributed free of charge to patients and their families in difficult circumstances at the hospital.
The meaningful and practical activities of the Quang Yen Charity Group have become a valuable source of encouragement and support, helping those in difficult circumstances to overcome life's challenges. Mr. Pham Huu Loc (Ha An ward), a patient being treated in the Internal Medicine Department (Quang Yen Regional General Hospital), shared: “For nearly a month of treatment at the hospital, I have seen the Quang Yen Charity Group come to distribute porridge almost every weekend. I am very touched and happy. Those warm bowls of porridge not only help us alleviate difficulties, but also give us strength and faith to continue fighting the disease, especially for patients in difficult circumstances.”

The Quang Yen Charity Group also maintains many other meaningful programs. On the first day of each month, the Group regularly donates 50 gift packages containing essential necessities to poor households and those with particularly difficult circumstances in the Quang Yen area. Each year, the Group organizes 1-2 charitable trips to help poor people and students in disadvantaged communes of Ha Giang province, bringing warm clothes, books, blankets, and essential supplies. Whenever natural disasters, storms, or floods occur, the Group proactively calls for donations, organizes emergency relief, and directly distributes gifts and essential supplies to affected households.
The simple yet loving actions of the Quang Yen Charity Group contribute to spreading the spirit of compassion and sharing in the community. This flame of love will continue to be kindled, warming many more disadvantaged circumstances and contributing to making life better and more humane.
