Quang Yen Charity Group was established on January 1, 2014. Initially, the Group had only about a dozen people, but now it has attracted and gathered about 50 official members. Mr. Ngo Van Quang, Deputy Head of the Group, said: "The members of the Group work in many different industries and professions. For everyone's convenience, the Group holds meetings every Saturday evening and Sunday morning. The Group assigns key members to be in charge of communes and wards in the Quang Yen area, grasp the local situation, review poor households and households in difficult circumstances to propose that the Group join hands to help."
With the motto "Sharing - Loving - Going to the place - Giving to the hand - Helping wholeheartedly", since its establishment, the Group has organized many charity fundraising activities, helping many difficult circumstances. The Group's operating budget is contributed by members with the amount of 50,000 VND/month/person. At the same time, calling on businesses to support funding; support clothes, bicycles for poor households, poor children in difficult circumstances...
From the fund, the Group maintains the activity of distributing free porridge at Quang Yen Regional General Hospital every Sunday. The members of the Group prepare food, cook porridge, bring it to the Hospital, and distribute it for free, directly to patients and their families in difficult circumstances with compassion and a heart of deep love and sharing. Each pot of porridge is worth about more than 1 million VND, from 200-250 servings, with nutritious food such as rice, bones, meat, green beans, potatoes, carrots... Up to now, after 11 years of implementation, hundreds of thousands of bowls of porridge from the Group have been distributed for free to patients and their families in difficult circumstances at the Hospital.
The meaningful and practical activities of the Quang Yen Charity Group have become a valuable source of encouragement and sharing, helping people in difficult circumstances gain more strength to overcome challenges in life. Mr. Pham Huu Loc (Ha An ward), a patient being treated at the Internal Medicine Department (Quang Yen Regional General Hospital), shared: “For nearly a month of treatment at the hospital, I saw that almost every weekend the Quang Yen Charity Group came to distribute porridge. I was very touched and happy. Those warm bowls of porridge not only helped us ease our difficulties, but also gave us more strength and confidence to continue fighting the disease, especially for patients in difficult circumstances.”
Quang Yen Charity Group also maintains many other meaningful programs. On the first day of every month, the Group regularly gives 50 gifts including essential necessities to poor households and households in especially difficult circumstances in Quang Yen area. Every year, the Group organizes 1-2 charity trips to poor people and students in disadvantaged communes of Ha Giang province, bringing warm clothes, books, blankets, and necessities. Whenever natural disasters or floods occur, the Group proactively calls for donations, organizes emergency relief, and directly gives gifts and necessities to affected households.
The simple but loving actions of the Quang Yen Charity Group contribute to spreading the spirit of humanity and sharing in the community. That flame of love will continue to be lit, warming more difficult circumstances, contributing to making life better and more humane.
