The Internal Political Security Department of the Can Tho City Police, in coordination with the Red Cross Society, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City, and the People's Committee of Thanh An commune, recently organized activities to provide free medical examinations, health consultations, and medicine distribution, as well as visiting and giving gifts to disadvantaged people in the area.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hoang Phuc, Deputy Head of the Internal Political Security Department of the Can Tho City Police, said that this activity is not simply a social welfare program, but also reflects the affection, responsibility, and gratitude of the officers and soldiers of the Internal Political Security force.

"We hope that through this activity, we can contribute to alleviating some of the difficulties in people's lives; and at the same time, spread the positive image of the People's Police officers who selflessly serve the country and the people," Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hoang Phuc expressed his expectations.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thanh Hau, Head of the Thạnh An Commune Police, the locality is the western gateway of Can Tho City, bordering An Giang province, with over 74% of the population being Catholic. Therefore, caring for the lives of the people, especially those in difficult circumstances, is all the more practical in strengthening national unity.

The activity brought practical medical services and support to 300 people, mainly elderly people living alone and disadvantaged households; it also distributed 300 gift packages containing essential necessities such as rice, noodles, milk, sugar, soy sauce, etc. This contributed to encouraging and instilling confidence in the people in the western gateway of Can Tho City.
The atmosphere of the program became even warmer when many citizens, officials, local police officers, and security forces participated in voluntary blood donation right at the event.

As one of the many people receiving support, Mr. Vo Van Tha (77 years old, Thanh An commune) shared that he had been suffering from sinusitis for some time. He had visited a medical center and was advised to be transferred to another hospital for further treatment, but due to difficult circumstances and lack of money, he had to postpone it.
"My wife and I are old and frail, no longer able to work. Now that we've received free medical examinations and medication, we are very happy and grateful to all levels of government and agencies for their concern and support," Mr. Tha said emotionally.

Ms. Trieu Thi Ngoc Diem, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City, emphasized that the Humanitarian Month is the peak month for beautiful acts of kindness, for companionship, sharing, and support for those facing many difficulties in life.

On behalf of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City, Ms. Trieu Thi Ngoc Diem also called on all levels, sectors, the business community, organizations, individuals, and all the people of the city to continue to join hands through practical actions, so that each act of sharing contributes to creating positive change for the community.
