Ams' Little Helpers and their journey of spreading knowledge in the highlands.

Amidst the hustle and bustle of school life, filled with coursework and exams, many students at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for Gifted Students have chosen to dedicate their time to a different path: fundraising for library construction, providing academic support, and organizing charitable activities for underprivileged children.

This is the journey of Ams' Little Helpers – a community project established in 2022 by teacher Dao Phuong Thao and generations of math-specialized students from the school.

From small activities in schools to projects supporting education in mountainous regions.

Instead of starting with large-scale campaigns or professional funding, Ams' Little Helpers began with activities very close to school life. Members organized stalls selling handmade cakes, drinks, homemade jams, exchanged books for fundraising, or sold highland agricultural products right on campus.

Many products were conceived, materials prepared, and completed by the students themselves, who then sold them directly at events. At times, members had to squeeze in time after school to process orders, prepare marketing materials, or finalize tasks for subsequent fundraising campaigns.

From these small activities, the project gradually maintained funding for charitable programs and educational support in many disadvantaged areas. One of Ams' Little Helpers' notable achievements was building a library at Van Ho Ethnic Boarding School ( Son La ).

Beyond donating books and school supplies, the members also directly organized tutoring classes to support 8th and 9th grade students here. These classes focused on fundamental subjects like Math and English, with Ams High School students handling everything from compiling materials and preparing lectures to guiding students through review sessions.

According to many participants, the most memorable aspect wasn't the volunteer trips or fundraising activities, but the moment of seeing students in remote areas gradually become more open, proactively asking questions, and enthusiastic about learning after each class. With this project, the library is not just a place to keep books, but also a way for children in underprivileged areas to have long-term access to knowledge.

In addition to Son La, the project has also implemented many support activities at the Vinh Phuc Provincial Protection Center and the Pediatric Department of K Tan Trieu Hospital through the donation of books, gifts, and essential supplies to children. These activities have been maintained over many years by different generations of students, creating a continuous model of volunteerism within the school environment.

The journey of young people spreading the spirit of sharing.

From 2025 onwards, a new generation of students will continue to develop the project through two programs: "Packaging" and "Nurturing." Fundraising activities will be expanded to include various forms such as selling homemade cakes, jams, and drinks, and organizing community stalls.

Recently, the project also collaborated with the fashion brand NOAM to launch products carrying a message of sharing with the community. The profits earned are being used for the plan to build a library at Thai Long Primary and Secondary School in Tuyen Quang province.

What makes Ams' Little Helpers special is that most of its activities are run by students, from fundraising and event organization to communication and partner networking. For many participating members, the project's journey is not just about volunteering, but also about learning teamwork, organization, and a deeper understanding of social responsibility.

Through field trips and exposure to challenging circumstances, many students reported realizing the differences in learning conditions between regions, which further motivated them to maintain long-term community activities.

Instead of aiming for drastic changes in the short term, Ams' Little Helpers chooses a sustainable approach through small but consistent activities throughout each school year.

For the project members, the greatest value lies not only in the libraries built or the gifts given, but also in contributing to providing more opportunities for underprivileged children to access knowledge.

In the future, the project stated that it will continue to expand its educational support and community volunteer activities in many other localities, while maintaining the model so that many generations of students can continue to participate in and develop this journey.
