Indian scientists have integrated multiple independently targetable reentry vehicle (MIRV) technology into the Agni-V missile, which enables the missile to carry multiple warheads to attack different targets. The Agni-V has a range of 5,000 km. It is the latest in India's nuclear-capable Agni series of missiles.
According to the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation, the United States, Britain, France, China and Russia are among the countries that have deployed missiles incorporating MIRV technology, while Pakistan tested the missile in 2017.
India's MIRV-based missile was developed by the country's Defence Research and Development Organisation.
