4 airports directly affected by storm No. 5

On August 24, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said it had requested agencies and units to be on duty 24/7 to prepare to respond to storm No. 5.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, the airports expected to be directly affected by storm No. 5 include: Tho Xuan, Vinh, Dong Hoi and Phu Bai. The airports in the affected area are: Noi Bai, Cat Bi, Van Don, Da Nang , Chu Lai, Pleiku.

Currently, relevant agencies and units are conducting inspections of airport infrastructure systems, communication systems... to promptly detect and handle damages, ensuring safety for operations at airports; deploying measures to prevent flooding, clear water flows, and limit damage caused by rain and storms...

* Information from the Vietnam Maritime and Waterways Administration said that the port authorities of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh , and Hue have recommended that port businesses temporarily suspend operations before 4:00 p.m. on August 24 to respond to storm No. 5.

The Vietnam Maritime and Waterways Administration has established a forward command post in Nghe An , under the direct command of Director Le Do Muoi. The Administration has also established a working group to monitor and direct port authorities to prevent storm No. 5 from the Ha Tinh seaport area to Quang Tri.

The Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center is required to direct regional maritime search and rescue coordination centers to maintain forces and means to be ready to participate in natural disaster prevention and search and rescue when requested.

Previously, the Ministry of Construction issued a dispatch requesting agencies and units in the fields of road, railway, maritime and aviation to closely monitor and regularly update developments of storm No. 5; promptly deploy response measures to ensure the safety of life and property of the State and people.
