The Indian Ministry of Defence said in a statement: "The system's performance has been meticulously monitored and validated using various instruments such as radar electro-optical tracking systems and telemetry systems deployed at the Chandipur Integrated Test Range."
Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh commended DRDO and the navy for the achievement, emphasizing that the test demonstrated the reliability and effectiveness of the VL-SRSAM weapon system. The test aimed to confirm several upgraded elements of the weapon system, including proximity fuse, seeker, and accuracy.
Simultaneously, DRDO Chairman Samir V Kamat emphasized that this system will significantly enhance the operational capabilities of the Indian Navy and serve as a core force.
Prior to the test, approximately 3,100 residents living within a 2.5 km radius of the launch pad were moved to temporary shelters for safety.
This event takes place against the backdrop of India recently unveiling its second nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine, INS Arighaat, a move that will significantly enhance its deterrence capabilities.
