At Jordan's first underwater military museum, tanks, helicopters and armored vehicles lie on the seabed near the city of Aqaba.
Inaugurated in 2019, the Underwater Military Museum was established with the hope that underwater structures will improve the environment for marine life, encouraging more diving enthusiasts.
The museum also hopes to ease pressure on natural reefs by drawing visitors away from those sites. A total of 19 military vehicles and equipment are submerged at depths ranging from 25 to 20 meters.
The seabed of Aqaba is also home to a C-130 Hercules jet that sank in 2018, as well as a tank and shipwreck that sank in the late 1990s.
It has become a popular diving spot with its rich coral reefs and vibrant marine life. Visitors to the city can enjoy glass-bottom boat tours, snorkeling and scuba diving.
