Returning to Betis from Manchester United this summer, Antony was quickly welcomed by Spanish fans. More than 1,000 shirts bearing his name were sold out in just a few days, along with his new fashion collection, which also sold out, helping the club balance the transfer costs.

Antony’s image even appeared on the official Betis store in the center of Seville, opposite the cathedral. In the video announcing the contract, Betis even created a CGI image of a goat running across the Isabel II bridge, implicitly referring to him as the “GOAT” (the club’s greatest player).

According to Terry Gibson, former MU striker and now a commentator in La Liga, the biggest change in Antony is in the spirit. “At Betis, Antony is trusted and welcomed. When you feel important, everything changes. That is a clear difference from the time at MU,” he said.

Betis coach Manuel Pellegrini also explained: "We encourage players to play creative football and Antony is such a player. He feels important, and that completely changes Antony's mentality."

His Betis teammates also acknowledge Antony’s worth. Isco joked that Betis should “kidnap” the Brazilian striker to keep him, while legend Joaquin happily said he would “drive away with Isco if necessary”.

At 25, Antony has endured a difficult and much-criticised time in England. But at Betis, he is finding faith and love again.

From a deal that was considered a "flop" at MU, Antony has now become a new idol in the hearts of Betis fans, a symbol of revival and the desire to rebuild his career.
