According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, this afternoon (September 16), the low pressure area in the sea east of Luzon Island (Philippines) has strengthened into a tropical depression. The National Civil Defense Steering Committee requested coastal provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Lam Dong to immediately notify ships.
At 1 p.m., the center of the tropical depression was at about 15.3 degrees North latitude; 123.7 degrees East longitude, in the sea east of Luzon Island (Philippines). The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression was at level 6-7 (39-61 km/h), gusting to level 9. Moving in the Northwest direction at a speed of about 15 km/h. At 1 p.m. on September 17, the center of the tropical depression was at about 18.4 degrees North latitude; 122.7 degrees East longitude, in the sea east of Luzon Island (Philippines), with the possibility of strengthening into a storm, and at 1 p.m. on September 18, it was likely to enter the East Sea.
To proactively respond to the low pressure area strengthening into a tropical depression, today, the National Civil Defense Steering Committee issued an official dispatch requesting coastal provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Lam Dong to notify captains and owners of vessels operating at sea to proactively prevent and have appropriate production plans, ensuring safety of people and property. At the same time, maintain communication to promptly handle bad situations that may occur and be ready with forces and means to deploy rescue work when situations arise.
