According to PhoneArena , Apple is facing a new legal challenge from its own shareholders. A class action lawsuit was filed in federal court on June 20, accusing the company of misleading investors about artificial intelligence features related to Siri and the iPhone 16.

The lawsuit alleges that Apple provided inaccurate information about the time it would take to deliver an AI update that the company introduced as part of Apple Intelligence.
Shareholders argued that the delay contributed to a drop in iPhone sales, which in turn affected the company's stock value.
The complaint also says investors were misled by Apple into believing that Apple Intelligence would be a key selling point on the iPhone 16 lineup, offering a smarter and more convenient Siri experience.
Apple was accused of inflating shareholder expectations at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June 2024. The situation became even more complicated when earlier this year, Apple announced that it would continue to delay new features on Siri until 2026.
In recent interviews, two senior Apple executives, Craig Federighi, senior vice president of software engineering, and Greg Joswiak, vice president of worldwide marketing, both confirmed that the company is having difficulty integrating new features into Siri.
Apple says its goal isn’t to build a chatbot. Instead, it wants to build an AI platform that can help users with everyday tasks.

The Apple Intelligence system is designed with a data processing model directly on the device, combined with a private cloud service (Private Cloud Compute) to ensure absolute security of user information.
“We want to deliver powerful AI experiences without compromising privacy. That takes a lot of time,” said Apple’s senior director.
The delay in launching the new version of Siri shows that Apple is not rushing to follow the AI wave as a mere technology race. However, this also met with mixed opinions as the company is said to be lagging behind its competitors.
