Apple has just updated its product lifecycle list and officially discontinued the iPhone 5 and the 8GB iPhone 4. According to regulations, these devices have been classified as "obsolete," meaning all repair services and genuine spare parts supply have been discontinued.
Previously, the iPhone 5 was listed as "obsolete" back in 2018 before officially having its support completely removed.
Launched in 2012, this model impressed with its aluminum and glass design, 4-inch screen, and the first-ever Lightning port.
Meanwhile, the 8GB iPhone 4 was once a popular budget option in many emerging markets. In Vietnam, these two iPhone models have long since disappeared from official retail shelves and are mainly available as used devices. The discontinuation of support leaves users with no option for official repairs, forcing them to seek third-party services or upgrade to a new device.
This move also marks the end of a generation of iPhones that were once "national favorites" during the 2012-2015 period. Readers are invited to watch the video : Apple kicks off its 2026 product week with the affordable iPhone 17e and iPad Air with the M4 chip.
